2023 Maui Steel Guitar Festival Reprise
E Komo Mai!
The 2023 Maui Steel Guitar Festival previously scheduled for Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Shops at Wailea, and on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the Queen Ka‘humanu Center in Kahului, has been canceled.
The cancellation is done out of respect due to recent wildfire devastation in the areas of Lahaina, Upcountry Maui, and Kihei, that caused untold amounts of loss of property and lives. HIMELE, the event's producer, feels that holding a celebratory festival is inappropriate at this time when Maui residents are focused on rebuilding and adjusting to their new "normal."
HIMELE hopes to return the festival to Maui at some future point in time, perhaps in 2024, if HIMELE feels it is appropriate to do so.
The Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and The Arts, one of HIMELE's supporters, has provided these resources for those affected by the wildfires and for others who wish to assist in whatever way they can.
