Feeling like 😵💫 as I am editing about 4 million photos and counting. Oh yeah and there are emails, admin, phone calls, purchasing supplies, time drive to/at/from sessions, maintaining gear, etc etc etc…. sitting down for meals and house cleaning has been optional.

Since I can’t be wandering the streets of Brussels today nibbling on the delicious chocolate I will bring a little of Brussels to you.

This is Halle Gate. It was built in the 1300’s and use to be part of a larger fortress. The other gates and walls were demolished but this survived as it was kept to be used as a prison. Today, it houses a museum dedicated to showcasing the medieval times in Brussels.

Did you know that this was part of a letter known as Immortal Beloved written by Beethoven? It is still a debate on who the letter was written to or for. It was found in his estate after his passing. Still just as beautiful of a line as is his romantic music.
Lauren’s wedding day footwear. Such fun texture with a feminine bow and slim strappy-straps. She also had a pair in blue that she changed into with her going away dress at the end of the reception. That ensemble was finished off with long silk gloves trimmed with feathers.

Off to session #3 in the past 3 days. 😅 Lots of driving all over Virginia and NC. Looking forward to tomorrow when I finally have a day to sit down to do some editing.

Heading back to Williamsburg today for a small wedding this afternoon! Thankful that the lingering storms from Elsa have passed and the sun is shining.

Last Saturday Lauren and Gus celebrated and partied like it was 1776. No, really, they did! (Check out the Instagram stories 😎). It was fitting as we were in Colonial Williamsburg and it was the weekend we celebrate our Independence Day here in the US.

The entire day was one for the books. The florals, the decor, the people…all just spectacular. I’m still obsessing over Lauren’s gown! Such an honor to document this day for them. They had to wait an extra year due to the pandemic but it was well worth the wait!

I quickly found out that photographing a reflective surface, such as acrylic, is not an easy task if you don’t want to see yourself or a shadow in the image later when hovering over the top of it. 😯

Cary and Evan were married this past weekend in Virginia Beach at a church just down the block from the reception at the Princess Anne Country Club. Just so good to see a very happy couple celebrating with a room filled to the brim of friends and family without masks. It is a joy to see smiling faces again! It was as if we were warped back in time to 2019.

Off to two weddings this weekend but this time I’m stepping into the second shooting roll for both. I really enjoy taking my prime hat off and going into assisting mode. It is refreshing to view the wedding from a different perspective. It’s also nice to not have to be the one making all of the decisions for 8+ hours!

Busy. Understatement of the year. Both personally and professionally. I am super grateful after 2020 but woah! 😅 I try to just work 9-5 like a ‘normal’ job but it feels like there is just not enough time in the day. It can be very stressful. We are all human. I’m sure others in the wedding industry are feeling the same way! Please be patient with your wedding vendors! 😉 I know some of them are even struggling to find workers/employees.

It’s Saturday, which means I’m off to another wedding today! It’s also Caturday. We brought home a little 8-wk old girl (swipe) yesterday to join our two 13-yr old boys. She is impossible to get a good photo of, she doesn’t stop moving. We are still trying to find a name for her and any help would be welcome!

Things have opened up and there will be plenty of weddings happening this weekend. Filled with thoughtfully designed floral arrangements, talented musicians, deliciously prepared food and plenty of place settings to set. It takes a team to pull a wedding together and the vendors work so hard to make the day special for each couple. 🎩s off to them!
We’ve made it halfway through the week! The next few days will be prepping for another very busy weekend ahead.

It is a day of rest. After being gone for 16 hours yesterday I’m pooped! Taking the day to reset and get ready for another busy week ahead. What are you up to today?
Melanie & Justin were married on Sunday on the beautiful grounds of historic Tuckahoe Plantation (boyhood home of Thomas Jefferson). An intimate setting with just 40 guests. Afterwards, they mingled as everyone sipped on champagne and enjoyed cake. So simple and perfect. I’m so happy this day turned out so beautiful for them. Next year, we will be back with a larger celebration with many more friends and family! You know there are more previews over on the stories. 😉

You can’t go wrong with a space with a large white wall and a lot of natural light! Sometimes you just have the let her shine on her own. The back of Rosecliff Mansion in Rhode Island is one of those perfect places to do that.

I was shooting this wedding with my dear friend, , last year and the last light was upon us on a very cloudy day. We were headed in to get the reception started and Kristine told me to go for it. I love that she trusted me to capture this for her client. This bride was someone who had been dreaming of getting married at that venue as long as she could remember. I hope the bride had many special moments throughout the day, not just this one, as much as I did being there that day.
