I will be the last person to tell someone they need to go to bed early and wake up early to be successful. I’m a night owl myself. However, I do believe that getting a decent amount of sleep plays a significant role in our mental health.

I have a lot of compassion as I watch my teenage daughter struggle to get enough sleep. It doesn’t happen as often as I’d like, but I understand. I remember the struggle of not getting enough sleep. Sending out positive vies to all those who are not able to get the sleep they need. I’m also amazed at how my own need for sleep has changed as I’ve gotten older. For the first time in who knows how long, I’m consistently getting a full 8 hours of sleep. Ill enjoy this phase why it last.

There is no doubt that I needed the love and support from others during dark times.

The isolation of struggling alone can only drag our mental health down farther.

We are blesses to have a local NAMI which stands for National Mental Health Illness. ANYONE can call or text 988 to talk to someone immediately. Reaching out can seem so hard but there is relief on the other side.

Tips for Reaching Out
• Be Honest: Share how you feel openly and authentically.
• Choose the Right Person: Look for someone you trust and feel safe with.
• Start Small: It’s okay to share little by little; you don’t need to divulge everything
at once.
• Set Boundaries: Let people know how they can best support you.
• Seek Professional Help: Don’t hesitate to consult a mental health professional
for deeper challenges.
