So much pointless information and debating flying around on social media right now. Here’s some information you can actually use. If you think this is incorrect information, I welcome your input and debate. Also, I still love you if you thing I am wrong ;)

How to use your parking brake correctly.
Your parking brake should be used every time you put your car in park.

The proper way to set the parking break is to come to a complete stop with your foot on the brake pedal.
Move the gearshift selector into neutral position.
Apply the parking brake and then release your foot from the brake pedal.
Wait for the car to settle on the parking brake and then move the shift selector into park.
(The same process applies to your manual transmission vehicles)

This keeps the weight of the vehicle from resting on the transmission. Everyone has experienced the loud clunk and harsh engagement when shifting a car out of park while on an incline.
This is a sign that the vehicle was not properly set on the parking brake before shifting into park. Your parking brake should be used even when not on an incline.
