About to hop off to Field Maneuvers but thought I'd shout about a couple mixes I've done:

1) honoured to be hopping on 's Third Place show tonight/tomorrow at midnight!!! Will is a legend and his label is class so get to know if you don't already. Deep dubby stripped back business from some of my faves in there, really enjoyed doing this one 💖

2) hopped on .atk's AAJA show the other week but forgot to shout about it as a certain sister of mine was getting married (!) but it's up on the soundcloud now! More stripped back ambient, dubby, housey explorations including a track of my own - 2 hours to float about and chill to essentially, letting the tracks do their thing. Thanks Eve 💕

Back on Bonse1 at 3pm - today I'll only be playing tracks from the label A Colourful Storm. Their back catalogue is amazing and full of variation from wonky minimal to dark jungle to obscure ambient and non-electronic cuts.

I'll be floating through the Bonse1 airwaves later this evening for the third edition of my show A/B.

This time I wanted to keep the first half free of dance music pretty much so it's full of some of my favourite dub, jazz and hip hop cuts with a few oddities thrown in there. Then the second half brings us into more electronic territory with a varied selection of house, breaky UK bits and ambient-leaning techno.

Robek is involved with some great outlets such as Vandelay Radio, JX3 and BONSE1, where he has been regularly pumping out some of the finest mixes of the summer. This one is no different, exhibiting many an alien and wobbly sound, while skilfully retaining a strong sense of rhythm and flow throughout.

As well as DJing, Rob is a very talented producer. Look out for his progressive bass track U13 that makes an appearance early on. He hopes to share some more of his productions soon so be sure to watch his soundcloud closely.

We are back from a short break from broadcasting with an exciting new mix series, SPECIALWORLD W/ Bolam - starting tomorrow @ 8pm 🌿

Bolam is one of our favourite producers at the moment and is currently based in Malmö, Sweden. He's had tunes released with Lobster Theremin, Haws and MELD and we're super excited to have him on air over the next few months 📻

The SPECIALWORLD series was conceived whilst Bolam was at home in the Shetland Islands, the most northerly islands in the UK. The name is derived from the classic movie trope, "the hero's journey", in which the hero reaches a special world at the end of their journey, a place untouched by the outside world. Each mix will evoke it's own journey, with carefully thought out progressions through a mind bending range of sonic textures and eclectic rhythms. Join us for Part 1, tomorrow at 8pm 🔒

I’m back on Vandelay Radio tonight at 9, but that doesn't really seem important with what's going on in the world rn.

Annoyingly the batteries in my recorder went out about 10 minutes from the end, but I thought I might as well use my little bit of internet space to broadcast a couple things that I think are relevant to the current situation. One of those is Steve Reich’s 1966 piece ‘Come Out’ - I first heard this in a Madvillain track but came across the original’s history on a wikipedia deep dive one day, and researched a bit further. It was composed using a tape recording of Daniel Hamm, an 18 year-old Harlem resident who was beaten by police and later falsely imprisoned on a murder charge; the true murderer is believed to be the police’s star witness. In the piece you hear Hamm describe how he had to force blood to come out of one of his bruises in order to be given medical help. From then on, the phrase “come out to show them” is repeated over and over, with one channel gradually falling out of phase, creating a spiralling echo effect.

The relevance of ‘come out’ today is undeniable, which is why I have paired it with a clip from George the Poet’s appearance on Newsnight on Monday. In it, he explains to Emily Maitlis that the UK is not exempt from the racism seen in the US - far from it, in fact. Just because the police don’t carry guns here it doesn’t necessarily make the situation any better. It’s a really eloquent answer and one that I think people should hear.

It might seem trivial to be putting this stuff in a DJ mix that not that many people will hear, but I think we just need to be spreading information and support as much as we possibly can at the moment. That’s why I’m also including a few links to information, donations and more below:
