I’m so excited to invite you to follow my new luxury makeup brand 💋

It was 2006 and I was living in NYC when I started my career in the makeup industry. Jump ahead to now, I recently turned 40 and 2024 marks 10 years since I moved back to Philadelphia and started Shimmer and Spice. I wasn’t really sure where my makeup career would take me when I got here but after I worked my first wedding, I was hooked.

Working weddings has given me the opportunity to meet the most amazing clients, and be a part of their story. I am so artistically inspired by my clients, but as much as I love to “do makeup” I also love being able to help create a wedding morning that is calm, and sets the tone for the rest of the day.

I’ve also had the opportunity to meet and work with some of the most amazing talents in the industry and I’m lucky enough to call so many of them good friends.

It feels like the perfect time to launch something new that reflects my personal growth and the knowledge I have acquired through out those years.

Shimmer and Spice is still going strong and I feel so lucky to have the most incredible team of talented artists. I can’t begin to describe the blood sweat and tears that I have poured into Shimmer and Spice these last 10 years. I will continue to run S&S as I always have with the help of my amazing admin Megan and awesome team.

Last night, while waiting to board our plane, Carter Jean was being her usual inquisitive self wanting to meet and say “hi” to everyone she could, until she walked up on this man.

He reached out and asked if she wanted to sit with him.
He pulled out his tablet and showed her how to draw with it, they watched cartoons together, and she offered him snacks.

This wasn’t a short little exchange, this was 45 minutes.
Watching them in that moment, I couldn’t help but think, different genders, different races, different generations, and the best of friends.

This is the world I want for her.
In a country that is so deeply divided by beliefs, I want her life to be filled with moments like this... not liberal or conservative republican or democrat, socialist or capitalist, just HUMAN.

There’s something about this photo that makes my eyes tear up. Maybe it’s because the bride is our Maggie, who has been working as our senior artists for 5 years now. Maybe it’s the colors, or the fact that everyone has their head down but Maggie is sneaking a peak at her love and her expression is precious.

Hey there, it’s been a while- 3 months postpartum and ready to start a crazy busy wedding season! With weddings every weekend and two babies, things are about to get wild!

Just remember if you’re working with me (Kristyn) trials are only Monday-Thursday 10-3. If you need a trial for your spring or summer wedding, it’s time to schedule!

Some of my team are able and willing to do occasional weekend dates but be sure to schedule ahead of time because slots fill up fast!
