When I create with my brides and grooms, their family and friends, I honor this opportunity to capture your unfolding story of your exquisite wedding day. As well, taking families out into the beauty of nature is a wonderful way to have everyone relax and capture the loving essence which is what family is all about, and if their pets are included, all the more fun. For me, it really is about the unfolding story, whether I'm creating storytelling portraits, the culinary artistry in the Farm to Fork movement, magazine features and essays along with the amazing landscape which just takes my breath away, it's all about weaving the magic of Earth's family and bounty, with the light that is the Divine. I love and enjoy being in nature and when I participate with nature, I feel the enchanted space with which to create. You could say that my photographic artistry is like a living mandala, for it embraces a rich tapestry of love, joy, beauty and wonder through the people I portray, the exquisite landscape which shares its essence with me and the plants and animals with which I share my Earth home. It is this glorious life force which surges through all creation, that I have the opportunity to create within. My photography is like a tapestry because each aspect of the work I do gives a richness to my whole body of creation. The people, places and venues may change, yet it is the vibrant essence of life in any situation that helps me capture and create the story. My extensive body of work over the last 30 years has emphasized people and our environment. Each assignment is viewed as a new and unique experience, because each person, family and organization has a special personality, which needs to shine. What is important to someone – what is the story they wish to convey through the photographic images – what story do they want me to capture? These are the questions I ask so I may understand and create the story or images that will best reflect their personality. Creative Collaborations
I help you create and manifest your dreams in the most beautiful of ways. I have also photographed two of Elote's Cookbooks and Lisa Dahl's Elixir of Life, along with Queen Creek Olive Mill's Cookbook. These cookbooks are more than cookbooks; they reflect the very heart and soul of the chefs. They also received national and international awards of excellence. Take your portrait experience to a new and deeper level through Portraits to Transform. Because of my love of nature, quiet contemplative time and journaling that I’ve done for years; I understand the way nature has enabled me to connect with all my senses in a fully present way and also connect to my spiritual essence and the Divine. I’ve had questions that have been answered through this time; insights into solutions; as well as next steps to take when I’m working or cultivating my dreams. I’ve found nature to be quite healing as well. It’s like Earth and Heaven embrace you in whatever you’re trying to understand on a deeper level. For me, nature is my studio; I love capturing memories and creating stories with others and providing a full experience which really goes beyond the photography. I’ve had so many people; families, brides and grooms and people whose portraits I’ve captured, tell me “Janise this is a wonderful experience – we had so much fun, it’s like an adventure.” And…yes it is an adventure into the beauty and wonder of nature, while you’re feeling joy and understanding what you desire on a deeper dimension. I am now offering these Portraits to Transform packages personalized for you. This can be created individually or for an intimate group of people. I'm happy to brainstorm with you about your goal, question or intention. We'll then choose a place which resonates with you in the Sedona area. Through quiet time in nature you reflect and gain insights, which you’ll journal about briefly. As you enjoy these new insights there will be images in nature you’ll be drawn to, sometimes as a metaphor to answer a question and provide insight. I’ll capture images of you for this portrait as well as other visual prompts you enjoy during your journey. You may even want to capture some of the images with your smartphone. When our photography is complete, I will then create a visual guided meditation with music that resonates with you, so you will be able to enjoy this personalized meditation when you return home and can use it regularly to help you answer additional questions and gain insights. As well, I will create a visual journal for you, so you may write your insights and again connect with these visual memories (or living mandalas) to continue to grow in your understanding; cultivate the next steps of your dreams or reflect on the healing and wonder that is taking place in your life.

The love I feel in nature is what I wish to share with others. It reflects my time spent in a beautiful and dynamic landscape, and the personality I feel as I hike and commune with the natural world and seek to discover the personality each place holds. It also encompasses people ghosted into the environment in such a way that you feel the beauty and the spirit or personality which weaves through a place. When I am out in nature, I feel fully present and with all my senses fully engaged, I may capture, through the photographic eye, that one unique moment in time, which may reflect a richer story or image to be experienced by the beholder. For me, pets and animals are kindred spirits which mirror unconditional love, zany antics, make us laugh, make us cry and really bring out the best we can be.
