No matter whether your ceremony is in a woodland or windmill, at sunrise or at sunset, in the height of summer or amidst the autumn leaves- having a celebrant means it can be exactly whatever, whenever and whenever you want.

Registrars have so many rules… time of day, location, licenses. Whereas celebrancy is totally free, you can make your ceremony totally about you. You’re in control of everything- music, readings, times, people and where the ceremony takes place.

A gorgeous and glowing recommendation from the lovely Hannah and Adam. I adored writing their ceremony and was so glad it was everything they wanted! Especially as they opted for a surprise ceremony.

I think it just shows how well I get to know my couples before I start creating their script, that I can find just the right words for their vow renewal! They were such an incredible couple and I look forward to doing anyone for their next big anniversary!

The beautiful Hannah and Adam decided to renew their wedding vows on their 10th wedding anniversary. They chose a magical place in the woods, in a cathedral of trees, which was special to them and their children to re-tie the knot.

When I first met Hannah and we talked about their ceremony, we clicked immediately and I knew that I could make their vow renewal as personal and special as their relationship. They wanted to incorporate the nature around them, readings from their children and a hand-fasting, all of which made their ceremony totally unique.

The words I wrote talked about their love for one another, how they were fated to meet and how their family has grown over the last decade. We called on the power of the universe to bless their union and cement their love for one another and the whole ceremony was a truly magical experience.

This was my first experience with hand fasting and I did plenty of research to make sure I got it just right- which also involved trying Mr W’s hand together with a dressing gown cord (not as kinky as it sounds 😉). Hannah and Adam wove their own cords in green and gold- representing good health, wisdom, abundance and growth and they used these to re-tie the knot and confirm their vows to one another!

All in all, it was the perfect day. The rain stopped and the sun shone through the trees and you could feel the love in the atmosphere. The perfect ceremony 💕

I’ve had a fair few new followers over the last few weeks so I thought I’d reintroduce myself! 🩵

I’m Lucie and I’m The Soulful Celebrant! I write, create and conduct totally bespoke ceremonies for weddings, baby namings, vow renewals and funerals.

I’m a mum of two boisterous boys and work in education for my day job (ex- primary teacher). I’m a chatterbox, pride myself on being kind, sensitive and approachable and I love hippos!

Traditionally, the 29th February- Leap Day- is a day when women are “allowed” to propose marriage to their boyfriends or partners. It’s a tradition that’s become a little more antiquated with every leap year, because why wait? Why do women only get one day?

An engagement is about the joining and uniting of two people who love each other- those people have decided to take the leap and make a commitment to one another forever, so what does it matter who asks the question?

Something a little different for me today. The funeral of Colin- the father of a family I’ve known for 10 years. And what a send off it was!
The crematorium was packed to the rafters, which is what we all want. To be loved, adored and respected so much that over a hundred people come along to pay their respects and say their farewells. Colin’s daughters spoke beautifully about their dad and it was abundantly clear what a special man he was.
I just hope I did him and the family proud. 🩷

Weddings are full of traditions- what to wear, what to say, what to do!

Church and registrar led weddings don’t offer a lot of wiggle room- there is little flexibility with timings, what is said and how to personalise the ceremony- which is where Celebrancy offers the perfect solution!

Whatever traditions you do or don’t want to include, that’s fine! Whatever songs, readings or people you want, that’s fine too! Whether you want some of traditional bits or be totally, completely and utterly unique- having a celebrant officiate your service is the way to go!

Bridal makeup can cost a pretty penny! So many brides may feel that they can’t shed a tear for fear of leaving cry-lines in their foundation!

But fear not… it’s actually good luck to cry on your wedding day. Superstition states that the more a bride cries on her big day, the less she’ll cry during the marriage!

Now I know that superstitions tend to be years old and based on absolute no truth whatsoever, but crying is nothing to be avoided. It can show the depth of your feelings towards your spouse, help relieve nerves and anxiety and show just how happy you are.

So, make sure your Make up Artist uses waterproof mascara and a bridesmaid has a tissue to hand - and all will be perfect! Tears or no tears!

I was given the ultimate privilege in the summer, I got to ‘marry’ my best friend- the gorgeous to the wonderful !
They put so much trust and faith in me to write the perfect words to describe their relationship, their hopes and dreams, their love for one another and it was such a joy to do that for such special people.
Knowing their love story, gave me everything I needed to create the perfect, personalised and heartfelt script to cement their marriage.
I will forever be indebted to them for trusting me and for believing in me as a celebrant and for giving me the confidence to go it alone as a career.

Well this is a bonkers one, dating back to Roman times! Apparently May is animal mating season, so it was considered back luck to tie the knot!
Not only is this utter rubbish, but May can be one of the prettiest months of the year. Late spring sunshine, blossoms and blooms around- what’s not to love

What a load of tosh! There are so many odd traditions or cliches around weddings- but don’t be fooled! Do whatever makes you happy! If you want to have breakfast together first, do a sneak peek or walk down the aisle together- then you do you Boo! .
And that’s just another joy of the celebrant led wedding! It can look exactly as you like- no standing in tradition or being ruled by old wives tales. Pure, unique, and bespoke joy- however you want it to be! 🩵💫

It’s true, with a registrar you get the traditional vows… to have and hold, sickness and health, you know the drill.
But with a celebrant, your vows can be anything you wish! Promises to always put your dirty pants in the laundry, or do the dishes, promises to love each other through thick and thin or promises not to skip ahead in your Netflix series. Whatever matters to you and whatever you want your marriage to look like- together we can write vows to suit everything you are as a couple and more! No cookie cutter words here!
