There are very few artists who play club music like Shed. Active since the early 2000s, the Frankfurt (Oder) – via – Berlin artist has been turning out exceptional tunes and testing club subwoofers for nearly that entire time, traversing the spaces between various styles and rhythms in a way that no other has, or likely ever will. A true pioneer, who has more monikers than most will even be aware of, on 3rd July he plays his most intimate London DJ set in an age, as the techno icon makes his Ormside Projects debut for Expert Death.

Last Friday released “Rave Echoes”, his first LP on and his first album since 2023’s ‘Towards East’. A masterpiece of ‘angular techno caught between the heat of peak time and the time-blurred hours after the club’, for most producers it’d be their magnum opus. For René Pawlowitz, it’s business as usual.

Ahead of his Ormside Projects debut and our first show back on 3rd July, we thought we’d revisit just a few of his best cuts to give you an idea of what you can expect in the club next month.

This Friday will be our last party for a long time, possibly ever. Thank you to everyone who has been part of ED for the last 7 years, and we look forward to welcoming you all one last time to on Friday.

No big sob story here, but it’d be irresponsible not to mention quite how much more economically challenging it is for people to run parties than it was when ED first started (and it’s now even harder for venues to operate profitably).

Very few DJs have provided us with a greater number of excellent mixes over the last 24 months than , and many of her podcasts remain on heavy rotation for us. By cohesively sewing together tracks from a range of tempos, Chanel is a purveyor of a recognisable sound she herself has defined as ‘Low End Psychedlia’: favouring tracks across the dance music spectrum which utilise contemporary acidic and dub techno elements as well as intense percussion and shuddering subbass. Think Anthony Linell if he also really liked 160bpm+ rollers.

Right off the back of an exceptionally busy 2024, The Untitled 909 boss joins us for her Ormside debut, as she warms up the floor on 17th January.

As we settle back into bi-monthly frequency, we’ll be sharing recordings from past nights – and we’re kicking off with a really special set: the first in our ‘live at Expert Death’ series.

This excerpt was recorded all the way back in 2022 with Clemency providing just over 90mins of moody, subterranean UK rhythms. Low-slung Dubstep mutations, Grime, Techno and a smattering of anthemic Trap/Drill are all utilised by the Sheffield via Manchester selector, as her set staggers and steps through the darkest corners of Club Music. If you were there on the night you’ll know what this did to the room. Sublime.

We first encountered Kessie on an internet forum many moons ago and were instantly struck by her commitment to finding and sharing outstanding club music. Being hard of hearing, Kessie’s relationship with audio is a vibrational one. Her tempo-bending selections tend towards the looping and the cerebral: a marriage of both hypnotic and more driving rhythms that (in our opinion) so many selectors struggle to reconcile. After a whirlwind 18-months which has seen her play most of Europe’s most celebrated and respected clubs then, we’re looking forward to the Leeds and London-based DJ’s pulsating sounds, as we kick things off again on 28th June.
