Meet our founder, Colin O’Brien! Colin has been driven by his love of music, entertainment and performing arts since he was little. Throughout high school and college, he organized small music festivals and other events while later cutting his teeth in the talent booking world. Now, Colin is living out his dream of helping people of all kinds bring their visions to life in event form – and leading the Blank Slate team toward a bright future!

‘Tis the season! We have officially begun rehearsals for St. Louis Shakespeare Festival’s production of “Q Brothers Christmas Carol!” It will run at the National Blues Museum from November 20th through December 23rd.

Can you believe it’s already been 230 days since one of our favorite days of the year – St. Patrick’s Day? We’ve proudly partnered with Dogtown United for the best St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish Festival around for years. (No bias here!) Who else is ready to celebrate next March?

Can you smell the BBQ after looking at these photos? We sure can! Dallas BBQ Fest was held on October 7th and 8th at AT&T Stadium, home of the legendary Dallas Cowboys. The event featured 16 pitmasters from across the country, with names like Pappy's Smokehouse from St. Louis and Arthur Bryant's Barbeque from Kansas City. Blank Slate handled production management for the event, making sure the two days (plus set-up and break-down) went off without a hitch!

Grove Fest STL

Saturday’s office views: Grove Fest STL! Blank Slate handled artist relations, production management and talent buying for this iconic St. Louis event. Just as iconic, though, was this year’s lineup of artists and performers! Music and dancing filled the streets all evening, and Big Freedia’s headlining set was EPIC, to say the least!

Because who couldn’t use some adorable pups on their feed today? These are just some of the paw-ticipants who ran the Dogtown Doggy Dash 5K a few weekends ago. Blank Slate co-created this event in partnership with Dogtown Running Club, as well as managed overall event production. From corporate event award dinners to dog-friendly 5Ks, there’s nothing the Blank Slate team can’t handle.

We love a good bird’s-eye view of an event, especially when it includes a beautiful skyline and a fun theatrical production! Blank Slate served as a production manager for St. Louis Shakespeare Festival’s rendition of “The Game is Afoot.” ⚽️

So, what does “production management” mean? Well, when it comes to a theatrical event, production management encompasses just about everything you could possibly think of to make sure the show goes on as planned. This includes coordination of lighting, audio and even making sure the streets are properly blocked off – which requires partnership with local authorities and – you guessed it – permits.

On September 9th, the International Association of Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers Local 1 held their 125th anniversary conference and dinner at the St. Charles Convention Center. Blank Slate was the conference producer for the event, which included a cocktail hour, special recognition and speeches, dinner, dancing and live music.

This event hosted 800 guests and required plenty of coordination on our part – from the venue and menu to photography and a very special guest: former St. Louis Blues player, Reed Low, who was the event’s MC!

We had a great Saturday with the International Association of Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers Local 1! Blank Slate was pleased to be a part of their 125th Anniversary Conference, held at the St. Charles Convention Center. Dinner, speeches, music and dancing were all included. And as a bonus, the event was emceed by former St. Louis Blues player, Reed Low.

An estimated 50,000 people attended Taste of St. Louis this weekend. That’s a LOT of happy taste buds and great St. Louis food!

In case you missed it, St. Louis Shakespeare Festival’s Merry Wives is in full swing. We’re having a great time handling production management for this nearly month-long event that’s taking Missouri and Illinois by storm!

For Merry Wives, production management tasks involve overseeing most components from start to finish, including but not limited to budgeting, sourcing vendors and securing staffing! Each event we participate in is different, which makes each day more exciting than the last.

The production runs until August 27th, so be sure to find a showing near you.
