I had the honor of helping celebrate a very special 7 year old this weekend. With 25 kids painting, this was my largest birthday party to date. Thankfully I had an extra set of hands from one of my teenage daughters. Happy 7th birthday, Srita!! 🎨 🦄 💕

I found some cardboard rounds on deep discount this week so my youngest daughter and I decided to paint some disco balls! 🪩 This was fun to paint because I tend to use more traditional colors and paint tight; these disco balls allowed me to play with color and paint a lot looser, which is admittedly a goal of mine as an artist. Inspiration from an artist I adore, Sari Shryack, who paints present day still lifes.

I've had several inquires if I was going to offer Art/Painting days at my house this summer. Unfortunately right now, they are doing construction on the road right outside my house. The road is closed during the day, so it'd make it hard to manage the traffic flow in and out of my driveway. They have not given me a definite end date for construction, just sometime in July. So I can definitely not offer any classes this week or next week due to the construction. I'll have to play the rest of July by ear as it's out of my hands at this point.

I have been working at a local schools’s summer camp this week; this week’s theme is Hawaii. I’m working with ages PreK thru 5th grade. I divide the projects by ages: PreK - 2nd and 3rd -5th.

On Day 3 we created shark paper collages and Robin Mead inspired watercolor Land and Sea watercolor paintings (which, sadly, I did not get pictures of).

I had the pleasure of teaching a spring break art camp at a local school this past week. Our theme was ‘Sweet Treats’ which is a familiar theme to some of my summer camp artists, and I added a few extra projects this go-around. So so fun!

I had the pleasure of helping Brooklynn celebrate her 8th birthday with a family paint party. Our artists ranged in age from kindergarten to adult. Such a fun and sweet family. Family paint parties are a some of my favorite parties, there’s just something special about being invited to celebrate with families. 🐢🎨💚

I’ve spent the past week running the art portion of a weeklong fall camp at a local school. Our camp theme was Camp Time Travel. We traveled from the Ice Age to the Jurassic Period to Colonial America to the 60’s & 70’s. I had two projects per time period, separated by age group: K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades. Camp was a huge success and the kids were game for any project I threw their way.

Due to rising cost of supplies, my kids' pricing will go up beginning September 1st, 2023.
• Kids' paintings will be $18
• Kids' parties will be $198, up to 12 painters
I have waited as long as I can to raise my prices, fortunately it's only a small increase.

In keeping with tradition of celebrating the life of a family member who has passed, today is the 3rd year of painting with this sweet family. I feel honored that they trust me to help them with this special tradition. 🎨 🫙 ❤️

This laidback, relaxing paint party was exactly what I needed after such an overwhelming week — Beautiful, peaceful trees swaying in the breeze, mountains in the horizons. Everyone’s paintings turned out amazing. And this was such a welcoming group of ladies, can’t wait to paint with you again.

And thanks for not minding my latest perfume I’ve been sporting all week — eau de skunk

And that’s a wrap for Sweet Treats Art Camp!! Shew!! These artists crammed 4 projects into 3 art-filled days of camp.

During our last two days of camo, we created Pop Art Doughnuts using acrylic paint on canvas, inspired by Andy Warhol and Pop Art Cake using oil pastels, inspired by Wayne Thiebaud.

The first picture shows all 4 projects, my examples that I created with the kids this week.

We had so much fun! I’m always a bit sad when my multi-day camps are over.
