I will teaching an art class - mask making - in September
Trail’s End Art Association is pleased to present a new workshop in mask making. Jorjett Strumme will be demonstrating and assisting participants in Making a Power Mask on two Saturdays, September 14 & 21, 2024 from 10am-12 noon at the Gallery. The first will be each student learn to mold a mask of their faces. The second session will be about embellishing the mask with materials of their choosing. Some find the process an empowering method of expression. The cost is $80 for Trail's End members and $100 for non-members and includes major supplies.
Jorjett grew up in Seaside but moved to Los Angeles just before she turned 21. From there her story and adventures included working as an assistant and in-house model for Nolan Miller’s DYNASTY and fifteen movies. Her stories about hand-painting June Allysons’ shoes at 2am and wire beads into a tiara for Esther Williams for the 1986 Academy Awards. Her job as an assistant and friend to Elizabeth Taylor took her all over the world, to attend iconic events, and meet many incredible people.
All the while she was making all sorts of wearable art: clothing, tiaras, bridal pieces, and over-the-top hats for people, photographers, and fashion shows. She created many pieces for Elizabeth Taylor like one-of-a-kind caftans, nightgowns and robes, and Halloween costumes. She loves whimsy, sparkle and a lot of fun!
