Hello there!
We're proud to introduce you to the three original Kent-based artists who will blessing us with their music at Folklore on the 4th of January from 7pm!

Joe Mulroe:
Joe Mulroe is an acoustic based singer songwriter from Dover, offering original songs that portray what it’s like growing up in South east England. All the original music he plays at the moment is unreleased. However, there are plans to release some music in 2024 (https://www.instagram.com/joemulroemusic/)

Sam Stewart:
Typically making up one half of The Worry People, join their frontman, Sam Stewart, in stripping back their high-energy set to its bare bones for their first ever acoustic performance. Since growing up on southern and alternative music, Sam Stewart now draws from artists such as Kings Of Leon, The 1975 and Zach Bryan, which can be heard in the carefully crafted lyrics and sing-along melodies (https://www.instagram.com/samuelstewart01)

Jack Bowden:
Jack Bowden is a Singer Songwriter from Southeast Kent. His songs often contain humour and surround night life and modern romance among other topics. Jacks passion for lyric writing is very obvious throughout all of his songs, his ability to play with words in a unique yet reachable way is at the forefront of his music. When performing live; he is equipped with a nylon string guitar that gives an almost Spanish feel to the set and an energy level that is unmatched. Hello there!

We thought we'd share some accessibility information ahead of the first Folklore Originals Showcase in partnership with Unsigned Finds #1 event (on the 2nd of November at 7pm).

Folklore is a small venue that seats 30 people and has one accessible, disabled toilet.

You may enter from either door.

There is a cocktail menu available by the bar, feel free to sit down and browse it before ordering drinks. Happy hour is from 5-8pm where a limited selection of cocktails are available from £5.

There is a selection of different kinds of chairs, most have backs. There are some stools available.

Outside the side door there are two benches where you can get some fresh air and enjoy looking at the Folkestone Banksy.

There is low-level ambient light during the evening.

We encourage a respectful and inclusive environment where artists can be heard and not just seen. With this in mind we ask the audience to try and keep talking to a minimum whilst artists are performing.

There will be short breaks in-between acts (acts are 30 minutes each).

Hello there!

We're proud to introduce you to the three original Kent-based artists who will blessing us with their music at Folklore on the 2nd of November from 7pm!

Matthew Wright:
Matthew Wright makes sad songs so you don't have to. Exploring themes of the "what I had", the "what I lost", and the "what could have been", Matthew sings about love, both the good and bad kinds, the way he knows best: melodramatically.

Luke J Dorman:
Luke J Dorman is a self taught musician from the south east coast of Kent.
During his successful time in the band 'Meister', Luke has shared the stage alongside bands such as 'Reef', 'Twin Atlantic', 'Feeder', 'The Libertines', in addition to the camden rocks events with 'The London SS' .
With 'Meister' taking a long term break,
Luke’s solo career has had an amazing boost. With his Debut solo album ‘PURE’ now complete, get your eyes and ears ready for a fantastic launch this Autumn !!!

Shay Gaston:
Shay Gaston “One of the most exciting newcomers to the UK country scene” - Belles & Gals
Reading-based country singer-songwriter Shay Gaston began writing songs from the age of 13 as a way to deal with life’s ups and downs, and her songwriting remains distinctly personal and true to her real life.
She met producer Mike Meadows (Hayes Carll, Willie Nelson) in 2020 and has since been working on a 5-track EP due for release in 2023. Since Seventeen, the EP's title track & Shay's debut single, has received overwhelmingly positive feedback, including being featured as BBC Introducing Berkshire’s track of the week.

Hello there! We are Unsigned Finds - nice to meet you :)

We were initially born as an idea generated by our big sis, Propolis.

However, we have now been fused and adapted into what will become a place that helps to promote unsigned artists who live and perform in the South East/Kent area.

We will do this by hosting events, making playlists and giving shoutouts to original artists who we have been lucky enough to see play live along the way.

We especially hope to help artists who struggle to fit into the regular music scene whether due to disability, gender, age, genre or whatever else may be a struggle when it comes to getting ‘out there’.

Please be patient with us as we get set up and running.
