This goodbye isn't forever - just for now!

Due to some personal reasons I have decided to take a step back from Unwritten Events YEG and put a pause on this adventure. As I have been given some brand new opportunities since officially launching, I haven't been able to juggle those opportunities and the time this adventure deserves.

So for the next little while it is goodbye - but I will be back. The website will remain live, and the vendor directory as well.

I have one last wedding in a few weeks that I am so excited for and it will serve as a beautiful ending to this small chapter.

I hope to resume this adventure in the near future and give it the passion and attention it deserves - happy spring everyone!

I have always created my own invitations. My wedding invitations were all made while recovering from knee surgery and I was very impressed with my colour coordination between the invites and my ice pack 😂

🖌️ DIY Invitations: Your invites can be completely hand made, or they can be designed online! Even consider going totally paper free with digital invites.

📬 Costco for Stamps: Did you know that Costco is a hidden gem for affordable and high-quality stamps?

💌 Mail your invites at community post boxes: They have less restrictions about tight sizing and weight. I have gotten away many times with envelopes being a littke too thick or heavy. DO NOT mail your invites at a Canada Pst Office unless you are 100% confident it will meet their tight restrictions.

💻 Use Canva or buy a domaine name for cheap and go digital!

🤝 Pro Tip: Plan a DIY stamping party with your bridal party or family. It's a fun and bonding experience that adds a personal touch to your wedding preparations.

is a women owned and operated bakery located in Beaumont, Alberta. Sarae and Lanaya started their business in farmers markets during the COVID-19 pandemic, but have been baking cakes and working in the food industry for years. Their first brick mortar bakery has a small walk up window for all your takeaway needs, with ambitions to one day open a high quality empire of drive-through bakeries. Their ambition and drive for changing culture in the food industry, paired with their high quality unique goodies, is a perfect recipe for that dream to become a reality very soon.

Their doughnuts are by far the fan favorite of the community, unique in that they are made from choux pastry and baked, rather than fried dough. Along with the doughnuts they make customized sugar cookies, macarons, brownies, pies and other sweet treats.

Their rapid expansion in the last few years since opening in 2021 isn’t stopping anytime soon. They are outgrowing their space and have ambitions to create a drive-through bakery that doesn’t compromise on quality, but allows for convenience for the busy person on the go. As a mom, Sarae often can’t make it to her favorite bakeries because of the inconvenience to her little ones, that is a part of the driving force behind, well, a drive-through! They want to bring quality and convenience to people. One, they believe, should not have to give way to the other.

Their grazing boards are perfection for any special event, wedding or staff appreciation. I have used their grazing boxes before to thank volunteers for events, and I almost had my hand bitten off going for the last mini cruller…it is a show stopper! More than just delicious, Thoroughfare Baked Goods also makes their grazing boards extremely convenient for your event. They will set everything up for you, complete with boards and greenery - then clean it all up too! No need for extra rentals, no need for extra coordination. They do it all for you. Again, quality and convenience, in one beautiful package.

Let’s talk about death –

So a little bit about me; I was set to become a mortician/funeral director post university. I was lucky in my university program that I was able to do a great deal of fieldwork study, interviewing people who work in the death industry, and decided it was not for me. There were a variety of factors, but one BIG reason was that there is a systemic culture of telling people HOW they should mourn and NOT to celebrate.

My family recently experienced a death, and with another likely on the horizon, and I think it is important to talk about how you chose to mourn is up to YOU. We spent the day following her passing looking at photos, eating Chinese food, admiring her orchid collection and exchanging stories.

If having a formal funeral is for you – great!
If having a family gathering is for you – great!
If doing whiskey shots and dancing is for you – great!
If doing nothing is for you – great!

There is no one way to mourn, but I hope you do remember that celebrating life and love is never something to be ashamed of.
