The World Cosplay Summit USA 2021 Video Finals at Anime Expo® Lite will be presented this year by Arda Wigs and hosted by Yaya Han!

We’re joined by an incredible panel of Judges – GarnetHart Costumiers from the USA, Hoku Props from the USA, MistveinCosplay from Panterona Cosplay from Trinidad and Tobago, and Rescue the Princess from Japan!

We’re thrilled to announce that each participating team will receive a prize package that includes gift certificates from presenting sponsor Arda Wigs and kimono importer and educator Tangerine Mountain Imports & Designs.

WCS Team USA 2021 will receive these prize packages as well as a $350 gift certificate, Team 2021 Jackets, a special day tour in Japan from Arda Wigs, a head to toe Kimono dressing package from Tangerine Mountain Imports, and flights to Nagoya, Japan to participate as WCS Alumni at World Cosplay Summit 2022 with more prizes coming soon!

After their selection, WCS Team USA 2021 will represent the United States in an all-new WCS Craftsmanship and Video Championship taking place August 7 and 8, 2021, and will be streamed around the world!

Hello all!
We've received a few messages regarding the following points and would like to give some clarification.
Once the application for WCS USA closes on the 22nd of April, we are planning to send ALL teams an outlined schedule of dates and information. Since the dates listed in the Japanese side of the rules have been (understandably) confusing, we will clarify here:
- Your video and craftsmanship documents will be due for review on the 1st of June, 2021 by 11:59pm.
- The dates listed previously in the rules are for representative teams who are selected BEFORE July, meaning these teams are the teams that shall be representing their country or region.
- WCS USA Finals takes place over July 3rd and 4th and therefore have been given a special dispensation to collect the information for the selected representing team after our Finals. - - Please plan to use the email sent after the 22nd of April as a checklist for what you will need to submit.
- Please plan to have your video, craftsmanship portfolio, and a 2-minute craftsmanship video (this is just to showcase the costumes and the craftsmanship of them) prepared for submission to WCS USA by 11:59 pm on June 1st, 2021.
- We have updated the Rules on our website to reflect this clarification.
- All applications between now and the 22nd of April will be accepted. After June 1st, all video and craftsmanship submissions will be reviewed by staff and Judges. From there, 12 teams will be selected to move forward to the WCS USA Finals which will take place at Anime Expo Lite.

As mentioned before, we plan to review all videos to ensure they all comply with the WCS Japan rules.
We hope this gives greater clarification and appreciate your understanding as we try to make this the best event we can!

Hey everyone! We hope you had a chance to tune into our live Q&A on the Anime Expo® Instagram but if you missed it, don’t worry!
We went over some general questions for the event but you can still email us questions directly.
We also announced our prizing for WCS Team USA 2021!
The 12 finalist teams will each get a $50 gift certificate from Arda Wigs . WCS Team USA will receive a $350 certificate as well as Team Jackets from Arda and from our hosts at SPJA, our finalist team will get round trip flights to Japan to participate as WCS Alumni in 2022 at the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya!
The WCS USA Finals will be on Anime Expo Lite July 4th weekend 2021 so stay tuned for the exact time and date and our judges announcements coming soon!
Please keep those applications and questions coming! We can’t wait to see what you all create!!!

Hello all!
Thank you to everyone who has been reaching out!
We've been getting some really great questions and want to offer some more clarification as some of these questions are repeats.

- All applications received will be accepted. If you turn in an application you should be creating your video and your costumes.

-After the application closes on April 22 we will send out emails to all applicants with deadlines and further instructions.

- We will be reviewing your videos and costume portfolios in the first week of June so please plan to have your video and portfolio completed by the end of May.

- As this is a new event, we want everyone to do their best! This means that as we review, we will use that first week to let you know if there are any adjustments that need to be made to adhere to the rules. These reviews will take place before your videos are seen by judges and WILL NOT AFFECT YOUR SCORES. Again, we want to see the best you have to offer and we want to make sure you are all prepared to be the first WCS Team USA Video Finalists!

- An adjustment to the rules has been issued by Japan:
"The total time during which any of the representative cosplayers do not appear in the frame is limited to a maximum of 15 seconds in the entire video."
This means that you or your partner must be in the frame and any filming that is scenery or set up shots without one or both of you in the frame should be no more than 15 seconds in total. This includes shots that show only extras, should you use them.

Hello all and thank you for your patience! Please find below the link to the World Cosplay Summit Video Championship and WCS USA Video Finals Rules and Regulations.
These rules are for both the contest as well as for the expectations of our competitors. The same rules will be used for both the Japan WCS Championship and the WCS USA Finals as our WCS Team USA will be selected very close to the Championship celebration dates.
Applications will be going up in March but please take this time to review the rules and reach out with any questions!
Please note that all video and costume information will be collected in June AFTER sign-ups are completed.
As this edition is ENTIRELY VIRTUAL! it is open to applicants who meet the age and citizenship requirements across the United States and Territories.
We will have some wonderful prizing to go along with the event and look forward to the opportunity to see the best of the USA!
