History of House - Groove Terminator & Soweto Gospel Choir

HISTORY OF HOUSE, A COLLABORATION BETWEEN ARIA-NOMINATED DJ GROOVE TERMINATOR AND THREE-TIME GRAMMY®-WINNERS SOWETO GOSPEL CHOIR, IS AN EXHILARATING JOURNEY THROUGH THE HISTORY OF DANCE MUSIC.
In a nutshell: Take the world’s greatest gospel choir who have performed live with stars including Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Bono, Queen and Celine Dion, add in some funky 70s disco, sprinkle in some 80s pop and then strap in to be schooled in house music, from the mid 80s, through the 90s, to the end of the millennium. Behind the decks is Groove Terminator, one of Australia’s biggest DJs, who has produced dance music and captivated dancefloors for more than three decades.The show was a smash hit at the 2020 Adelaide Fringe in its debut season, taking out the gong for Best Music Show.

Now James presents authentic and definitive arrangements of classic Motown songs from the music that came to be known as The Sound of Young America. With a big 11-piece band, and taking time along the way to talk about the origins of Motown and the stories behind many well-known tracks, this is James Morrison bringing the sounds of the Motor City to downtown Manly.

Missy Higgins in Manly
AUSTRALIAN SINGER/SONGWRITER MISSY HIGGINS HAS ENJOYED PHENOMENAL SUCCESS WITH HER IRRESISTIBLE MELODIES, SEERING LYRICS AND AN AUTHENTICALLY STRIKING VOICE.
She was just 21 when her 2004 debut, ‘The Sound of White’, exploded in Australia. The nine-times Platinum, six-time ARIA Award winning album was the first of her five domestic #1’s. Her 2007 follow-up, ‘On A Clear Night’ followed with another chart topping single, ‘Steer’, plus RIAA gold-certified U.S. breakthrough hit, ‘Where I Stood’.
Missy remains one of Australia’s most revered voices. 2018’s ‘Solastalgia’ probed the existential crises that comes with climate change and was accompanied by a stadium tour with Ed Sheeran while her work on the soundtrack to the acclaimed TV Series “Total Control” earned her several songwriting awards in 2022 and inspired the Total Control mini-album.
