🍂 happy first day of F A L L 🍂

I’ve posted this before & I’ll post it again and again - fall means busy season is in full swing! Please be gentle with your photographers, as this is the time of year that a lot of us overbook ourselves so that we can make sure our clients get that gorgeous fall foliage that is highly requested!

Speaking for myself: between my other job, my kids’ sports & driving my son to/from work then having sessions to photograph multiple times per week, I am at my max turn around time right now. My turn around time is 40 business days *after* telling me you’re done choosing your faves from your soft-proof galleries. This is explained on my website, before you submit a booking submission, in my contract, in my soft-proof emails, and I try to post about this often just to make sure I’m overly communicating my turn around time!

Thank you beyond words to those clients that have randomly texted me “take your time!”, that send me sweet little coffee e-gift cards & that simply just check in on me. Clients that do that truly show me how much they value my time & work, and that speaks volumes to me! I appreciate those of you who do that more than I can explain! 💛

Just here to announce that there are 3️⃣ thirty minute sessions that opened up & they are all that’s left on my outdoor session calendar for 2024!

Sometimes this job, like any, can be really stressful but to see families returning and to capture their changes through the years, is the biggest/best gift of all 🥲💛

☀️ June 25: my Christmas in June event opens! Christmas in June is the launch of my Christmas Studio minis - round 1 will take place in September this year, round 2 will take place in October!

This was the first wedding I have accepted as a main shooter in over almost 1.5 years 😱 and it was 1000% the best decision to not only take a little time off, but to have THIS amazing couple as the first wedding “back in the game” - I say “back in the game” loosely lol! I have decided I will be taking on weddings again BUT only 2-3 per year max and the ones I take on, will be spread out between months!

Steven & Kylee are such a beautiful couple whose love for each other is entirely evident and true. The moment we sat down for our consultation, I felt their genuine connection. The way they explained their wedding day was probably every photographer’s dream: A small intimate wedding filled with the love & support from the people most important to them, the couple got ready together (so cute btw 🥹) and they really wanted a photographer who would give them guidance while still having creative freedom.

With that information alone, I was convinced that God brought us together for a purpose and boy am I glad He did! Their wedding was exactly all they had talked about & more. It was truly an honor to be a part of and even more, capture the memories of the day.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs. Dettling! Here’s to a life time of joy, love, laughter, & FUN! 🥂💕

SUMMER SUNSET SESSIONS ARE NOW OPEN! ☀️📸

I’m soo EXCITED to see who gets on my calendar this summer & to capture beautiful memories of your families!

Things to remember:

1. My online calendar is for ☀️ sunset ☀️ sessions only! If you’re interested in sun rise, or a studio session, please reach out for times & dates on those!

2. Once you submit your appointment time & date, you will be automatically emailed a confirmation of the time & date of your session. At the top of this email, there will be a link to the contract. This must be filled out within 24 hours to secure your time slot!

3. About 4-6 weeks prior to your session, you will receive an email regarding styling! If you’d like to utilize my client closet, it’s best we plan your styling appointment (coming to my studio to try on items) at LEAST 2 weeks prior to your session! I only offer try on appts during certain days during the week, no longer on weekends!

4. Remember these are memories we are making with your families, my style is very much not super posed and more “in the moment”. Let the kids run, laugh together as a family & remember these are the moments that we want to soak in before our babies are grown 🥹

(Possible trigger warning: addiction & PCOS)

I don’t offer sneak peeks much at all anymore but the moment I took this image, I knew it was going to be one of my favorites. This image and the girls in it truly mean so much to me, on a deeper level than I can explain. Not only was this my first ever twin newborn session but aside from that, this session was done for a long time friend of mine.

With permission from my friend, I want to tell you a little bit of her story and why capturing this session means so much to me:

This particular friend was going through the darkest trenches of addiction, was eventually told that she will not be able to have more babies due to PCOS & other medical diagnoses’ and all around was just not in a good place. After years of that dark place, losing friendships, losing control of her life, she truly had a huge realization that something had to change & she needed to get her life back in order. This is where New Freedom Center comes into the story.

Making the choice to go somewhere & get the help she knew she needed, was hard on her pride, on her willingness to get “uncomfortable” getting sober and on her mind, but she knew she needed to do this for herself, for her family and most of all, her beautiful daughter, Saige.

After about 14 weeks of inpatient & outpatient treatment, she completed the program! Fast forward to almost exactly one year later, she found out she was pregnant with not one, but TWO sweet babies 🥹

I’m so proud & happy to say that as of today, this mama has been sober for 634 days. Raising her babies, being the best partner & mom, and living her life SOBER & CLEAN. Just watching her interact with her babies during this session was something I can’t even put into words. I watched her eyes fill with gratitude & even disbelief, every time she looked at her babies. She has worked so hard for this better life and is so deserving to finally be free of the damage that addiction effortlessly gives out.

I hope her story gives you hope. I hope that if you’re struggling, with ANY thing, that you will find even the slightest glimpse of light that will get you toward a brighter future. Stay strong, believe in yourself and know that you CAN succeed if you put the work & heart into it. 💛

PS - thank you from the bottom of my heart to New Freedom Center for giving this mama back to her family. For getting her life back in control & for giving my friend back!

Monday June 17, 2024:

(2) Back to Back Mini Sessions Available! Perfect idea for your family and your bestie's family to take a fun day trip then get your families photographed back to back during the evening 🥰
Session #1 will start at 8:00pm MOUNTAIN TIME ZONE!

Session #2 will start at 8:30 pm MDT

*session #1 will meet me at the entrance of the park 20 minutes prior to start time, as there is about a 20 minute drive to the location for photos!
I will send a pin to session #2 so they can find me easily prior to their session starting!
Mini sessions are not for extended families | only immediate family of 6 people or less*

Tuesday June 18, 2024 & Wednesday June 19, 2024(🚫BOOKED🚫):
(1) Full Sunset Session
Session start time would be 8:00pm MDT! Client will meet me at the entrance of the park 20 minutes prior to start time, as there is about a 20 minute drive to the location for photos!

*there is a park entry fee of $30.00/vehicle that each client is responsible to pay for their own vehicle
*any usual travel fees I charge will be waived for these sessions
*discounted gift cards are not able to be put towards these sessions, due to me waiving the travel fee. I would be losing too much by honoring both, I hope that makes sense!
*My client closet & styling assistance will be available to all Medora clients at no additional cost!

So… who’s up for South Dakota sessions this summer? 😜😍

In all seriousness, this session was what dreams are made of. In fact, this session was from a long time dream that Lyza Maye Photography & I have been working hard to bring to life; which brings me to Wilde Retreats! The business we have built from the ground up to help other photographers grow their own businesses, build community & lasting friendships, make memories with other creatives and capture some magical images in some of the most beautiful places the US has to offer.

I couldn’t imagine doing this with anybody else! These images are from our FIRST ever retreat last summer and I’m so proud to say we have sold out of all three of our events that we have planned so far! 🥹

I can’t wait to see where Wilde takes us, and truly can’t wait to see who we meet along the way. We have already bonded with so many amazing photographers and now hold the most special memories in our hearts with them!

Truly thanking God & counting every lucky star for these amazing opportunities and for bringing Lyza & I together. I am eager to see what’s ahead! 💕

Spring of 2024 will be open for booking on SATURDAY!!!! 🥳 as you might notice, I will be cutting back on the amount of sessions I take on per month. Summers will be a little more open, but spring, fall & winter will have limited spots this year.
