I will have stained glass goods and small dried flower bunches for sale at the Pumpkin Patch Saturdays and Sundays while open for pumpkin season!

Fun Vendors will be in the barn area, and food, drink and popsicles will be on the barn on opposite side

Pumpkin Patch opens at 10:00am. See Sweet Thistle Farms page for car passes or purchase one at the gate. Come out and bring the kiddos, there’s so many fun things to do- train 🚂 chickens 🐓 goats 🐐 cheese 🧀 flowers 💐 and pumpkins of course 🎃!

This weekend, at Sweet Thistle Farms Pumpkin Patch opening, I’ll be selling something other than real flowers-
Stained Glass! In my semi-retirement, I’ve been enjoying making stained glass suncatchers in fun designs.

After lots of practice and a few failures, I’m feeling more confident selling my creations.
After a 4-decade (not kidding!) long break from stained glass, I attended a class, and was hooked in to glass again!

I’ll have a display set up in the barn at Rocky Oaks Goat Creamery, come out and see lots of fun things to do, see and eat!

Carefree summertime arrangements for a family reunion today. The flowers are hyper-locally grown- so thankful that my sweet flower-friend Sweet Thistle Farms had some beautiful blooms for me to pick for these arrangements! I am loving the muted colors of these few zinnias I got planted this summer- they are from + seeds.

I came across this photo while looking for examples of arrangements that were made in the vases/ stands I’ve got for sale on Marketplace. Since I am retired from weddings and events, I don’t need to hang on to this stuff!

This is the look you get when you create a lovely floral arrangement, and spend the day with your flower buddy. We haven’t seen each other for way too long, so while visiting family in Washington, I had to visit Fleurs Creative Studio in Snohomish.

Alicia offers classes for all levels of floral design- from flower enthusiast to professional. This design took me out of my comfort zone- I usually make more casual wild flower-like arrangements.

I remember this wedding order so well. It was 2020. A micro-small wedding in a beautiful place in one of our national parks. Mom of the groom contacted me and asked if I was available for their date. Yes I was. I was more than happy to have a small pickup wedding that year.

Now comes an interesting part. The sweet woman I spoke to about this wedding day told me that a local florist refused to provide service for this wedding. They refused because the couple was a same-sex couple. My heart sank to the pit of my stomach for this family. I wholeheartedly said yes and made it extra special for them. Extra special because NO ONE should be refused service because of who they LOVE 💜 Personal flowers for two moms, two dads and two people who love each other.
Please know that if you’re a member of the LGBTQI Community, Fleurie is a safe space for you.

Random pretties blooming now, and the reality of growing flowers for sale- waste, also called shrink in the business world. Pretty color of larkspur, but it’s only about a foot tall. I will leave these in the ground to set seed and they’ll self-sow for next season.

If you’re a creator, you know the feeling of making something you really love, but capturing what your eyes truly see in a photo is impossible? Yah, this one.

I was thrilled to get to deliver this to a woman from her husband for their 50th anniversary! What I make is from the heart; I’m honored when it touches someone’s heart in the way it did for the recipient of this glorious arrangement.

Anniversaries are a special thing, remember them and celebrate them 🥂 cheers to many more years

In honor of Dia de las Madres, I am giving away TWO DIY buckets of flowers! One for you and one for a friend you nominate. Starting now, tag a friend who would love a whole bucket of clean-grown, Reedley-grown, florist/ grower-grown FLOWERS!
With this warm weather the flowers went from 0 to 100 within a couple weeks!

Here’s the details- not a lot of them, I hate complicated instructions; no jumping through hoops, no follow this and follow that, stand on your head and do the hokey-pokey!
(though if you don’t follow Fleurie I’d like it if you gave me a follow)

2) Sit back and wait until Saturday morning at approximately 9:00 am PT when I announce the two winners.

The sweetest colors of garden roses, sweetpeas, feverfew and caramel phlox for ’s Friday popup. One lucky winner got the blush cup and an arrangement of flowers from me! The little basket was a prop for the photos. Peep stories for the beautiful backdrop!
Such a cute idea, I’d be up for putting flowers in one of these beauties again!

🌎 Each year, Earth Day organizers assign a theme for the year’s activism efforts. This year’s theme is “Planet vs. Plastics.”

♻️Not many flowers or anything else goes to waste here at Fleurie headquarters. I re-use whatever I can, and avoid buying more ‘stuff’ and new items whenever I can,choosing to use what I have or buying second-hand. Any packing materials I receive get saved and used many times, for packing flowers for delivery and items I ship out. Cardboard goes on walkways between rows to reduce the w**d population and help retain moisture in our sandy soil. Vases that clients return get reused. I make special note when I get a package that is padded with recycled materials- and use that over again. The flats, pots and containers I use to start seedlings and plants all get used until they completely wear out

🌸 These flowers from the Fleurie garden, went un-sold, so they get made into bouquets for placing on our loved ones graves, delivered to a nurse’s station or to someone that just needs a flower pick-me up

Will the things I do to reduce waste help?
If we all do our part, yes!

Beautiful mixed vintage plates and goblets topped the tables, all gathered by the honoree’s mom

Today is the anniversary of my dear mom’s birthday, she would have been 97 this year. She’s my reason I embraced gardening and a love of flowers at a very young age. Her mother was also an avid gardener. I still remember the plants she grew and the layout of her garden- Grandma Olsen passed away when I was about 17. The love and appreciation of flowers is in my DNA 🧬 🌱🌸💚

Mom was a natural at horticulture therapy; working at a mental health facility for over 30 years, teaching horticulture, pottery, leathercraft, home economics, needlework and more.
The Margaret Hudson statue was a birthday gift from family and former co-workers and friends for her 80th birthday.
Sweet photo memories-
Mom at work shoveling compost, working in the Bearded Iris garden; her garden at her home, which I helped design in the mid-80’s.
She adored my girls, Lauren and Camille, and created special fun places in the garden just for them to play in.
Mom and her cousin in 1932 posing with Bearded Iris for their birthdays. I still have that vase, and place Iris that was from her garden in it every year. Bearded Iris blooming today- soon to be in that vase!

For 2020, I am fine tuning my schedule; including more true garden style events, intimate affairs for under 100 guests, elopements, and events that really show off the Season's Best Flowers, mostly grown in the Fleurie Garden, locally sourced and California grown. Its my thang, my jam, my 'look', my style and the type of events I want to put my name on. It's my true passion to use the flowers I grow, and the style of events I prefer.
