Sometimes the calls come in even when it’s NOT our wedding.⁣
⁣
Recently, both the photographer and DJ from an event reached out in a panic… it was 5:30 pm and
✨ The caterer hadn’t shown up.⁣
✨ The venue was brand new.⁣
✨ The “coordinator” had never been there before or connected with vendors.⁣
✨ Guests were waiting.⁣
✨ Vendors were scrambling.⁣
✨ And the couple? Completely blindsided.⁣
⁣
Here’s the thing: there’s a difference between someone who shows up with a clipboard and a seasoned planner who’s been through it all.⁣

Two years ago we got to witness something truly special…⁣
⁣
On Hunter and Megan’s wedding day, over 40 talented and generous vendors came together to gift a six-figure wedding to this amazing couple walking through an unthinkable season with their medically complex child. ⁣
⁣
It was one of the most beautiful examples of what happens when our industry shows up with open hands and open hearts. 🫶🏼⁣
⁣
It wasn’t just about flowers, gowns, or a stunning venue, though every detail was breathtaking. ⁣
⁣
It was about love poured out in abundance. ⁣
⁣
It was about giving a family joy, hope, and memories to last a lifetime.⁣
⁣

Did you know that yesterday was National Nonprofit Day?! ✨⁣
⁣
Before starting Delight, my background was in the nonprofit world and that’s why these kinds of events will always hold such a special place in my heart.⁣
⁣
This weekend, our team has the honor of producing the Boone Hospital Foundation Gala at Cooper’s Ridge . And while we pour ourselves into every detail, every transition, and every moving part, the real reason we show up with everything we’ve got is because nights like this change our community.⁣
⁣
Nonprofits remind us that events aren’t just parties. They’re catalysts for impact. They raise awareness, fuel missions, and give communities a reason to rally together for something bigger than themselves.⁣
⁣
💙 So today, we’re raising a glass to the nonprofits who serve tirelessly, and to the people who support them. We’re honored to play a small part in work that matters so much! ⁣

✨ Meet Melissa Ferguson ✨

Melissa joined the Delight Events team in 2023, and to say she’s been a game-changer would be an understatement. Now serving as an Associate Planner with her own calendar of amazing clients, Melissa brings a sharp eye for setup details, a heart for service, and the calm confidence that makes wedding days run seamlessly.

She’s our behind-the-scenes warrior… the one making sure every table is picture-perfect, capturing details for social media, and ensuring our brides feel completely cared for from start to finish.

Outside of weddings, Melissa is deeply rooted in her faith and active in her church, plays an important role in her family’s business, and works with a social media agency. Basically… she’s a powerhouse in every sense of the word.

We’re so thankful to have her on our team and can’t wait for you to experience the magic she brings to each celebration. 🩷

One of the first questions we get from couples is: “Is it just you? Or do you have a team?”⁣

My answer? “OH MY GOSH… it will never be just one person!”⁣

✨ Meet Kristen Thackery Russell ✨⁣

If you’ve ever wondered how our wedding timelines seem to run like clockwork, meet the magic behind the magic, Kristen! 🪄⁣
⁣
Kristen and I first met back in 2020 at Cooper’s Ridge, where she spent years as their general manager before becoming a mom to sweet little baby boy Harrison! ⁣
⁣
Fun fact, we actually planned her wedding in March 2023! 💍 ⁣
⁣
She’s been part of the Delight family since 2020, occasionally stepping in to lead weddings with her signature calm confidence and this past spring, I talked her into building flawless timelines on the backend with us! ⁣
⁣
A Mizzou grad in both theatre and event planning, Kristen blends creativity, logistics, and humor into everything she does… and she is DANG GOOD at it! ⁣
⁣
She recently relocated to Tulsa for her husband’s medical physics residency, but no matter the miles, she’s still one of my favorite humans of all time—we joke we share the same brain and I truly couldn’t keep up without her. 🧠🩷⁣

Lesson Learned. I’ll never forget one of my early weddings… it was gorgeous, full of love, and… ended with me dragging six bags of trash across a gravel lot in heels at midnight. 😅⁣
⁣
Why?⁣
⁣
Because I hadn’t drawn clear lines about roles, expectations, or what our team was actually responsible for.⁣
⁣
I thought being a “good planner” meant saying yes to everything.⁣
⁣
Now, I know better.⁣
⁣
A seamless, elevated event doesn’t happen by accident… it happens when each vendor has a clear role, when the timeline is protected, and when planners are allowed to PLAN.⁣
⁣
Our team shows up to manage logistics, style details, cue the ceremony, keep the flow, and handle the hundreds of decisions that happen behind the scenes.⁣
