This is a record breaking year with gigs booked for My Balloon Guy and it just kills me that my dad isn’t here to benefit from it and to witness it.
He was my biggest critic but it was always constructive feedback. He really pushed me so hard and because of him, I have a sterling reputation of 18 years in the event entertainment industry.
This man was so talented in the kitchen, decorating, and creativity. Had incredible ingenuity, and a truly insane work ethic, and OFF THE CHARTS (That was his favorite line to say) tolerance for pain.
His health got the best of him with diabetes, dialysis, being an amputee and a laundry list of other ailments. 70 years wasn’t enough time on this earth but he almost died at 60, and 65, and 68 (Tough SOB), so I am thankful for the years i had with him.
I miss his food. I STILL haven’t had a Carne Asada better than his. I STILL haven’t found Texas brisket better than his. He was a true master at his craft and took insane pride in his food and having the fulfillment of people raving about his food.
A truly great man who was a leader, and a father figure not just to me, but to a lot of people who turned to him for advice or looked up to him for his guidance or tough love.
He was far from perfect, a truly horrible temper, a vicious screamer, and got agitated very quickly at times, and was really good at holding a grudge, but he always said sorry and had a huge heart.
A legend of a man that truly led by example.
