This time, it's a musical act that we are very excited to have here - The Marla Vickers Project!

Marla is from Chicago, but relocated to Tallahassee a few years ago to accept a postion with Florida State University, where she serves as the Vice President for University Advancement and President of the FSU Foundation.

She specializes in country music - from today's hits, the classics, and even a few originals - and she has been playing live for over a decade!

But this is the first time on The Hub's big stage, and she will go live at 2 pm! 🎸 🎶

The draft for the Miccosukee Canopy Road Greenway Management Plan, marking its third ten-year update, is ready for public feedback. Capital City Cyclists actively participated in the Citizen Advisory Committee, shaping the plan's goals. The Greenway, situated on state conservation land leased to Leon County, is a cherished spot for cyclists, runners, walkers, and equestrians, with four accessible trailheads.

Concerns Over New Road Crossings
Despite conservation efforts, utility and road easements threaten the Greenway’s tranquility, including an extension of Dempsey Mayo Road projected to handle 7,500 vehicles daily. This development would require park users to navigate up to four new road crossings. Capital City Cyclists successfully advocated for safety measures at these crossings, including reduced speed limits, narrower lanes, and a user-operated light at intersections. However, the current plan lacks a firm commitment to these safety enhancements.

Flooding Issues
Persistent flooding east of Edenfield Trailhead, worsened by recent heavy rainfall, has left parts of the trail unusable for months. While some mitigation efforts have been made, there are concerns that stormwater designs and the new Welaunee Parkway extension might be contributing to groundwater rise and pooling.

Get Involved!
Cyclists and all Greenway users are encouraged to review the plan and attend the community meeting. Share your thoughts on how to ensure safe, sustainable access to this valuable space.

🎶 WEEKLY LIVE MUSIC LINEUP @ THE HUB! 🎶

We anticipated some bad weather today, so we won't have 4 days of live music this week.

Instead, we're gonna kick things off with a bang on Friday night at the East Town Get Down with Two Foot Level! These guys really don't need any introduction, and the house is always packed when they play. They were actually the first band to play on our new stage when it was built a few months ago, but they haven't been back since then — until now! Their upbeat and soulful style will have you jammin' right along with them, and a 3-hour set won't feel like enough. 🎸 🎶

On Saturday, we have a special treat, when usual solo artist George Feijoo Music returns to The Hub for the first time in a few months, but this time with a full band! 🥁 🎸 🎹 🎤 The Scott Brown Band will join George on stage from 4-7 p.m.

And then on Sunday? It's the HUB DEBUT of the Marla Vickers Project. Marla is a professor at Florida State University and has her own musical group. And we are excited to have her perform on our big stage Sunday!

Another great lineup of live music, if we do say so ourselves!
