A while back, I ordered these two charmeuse satin fabrics. I've never used them because they're WAY too silky-flowy, and tucks and bustles would not look right with them. They would be perfect for dressing gowns though!

The fancy dressing gowns I've seen typically have maribou feather trim - which I personally am not that fond of, although it does make an epic curly hem. You can create a very similar look with ruffled ribbon and lace, which IMO is much more elegant!

Something I really love about historical dressing gowns vs modern robes, is they were actually form fitting, as opposed to the shapeless things we have today! I like the idea of even making them to fit over a corset - like my dress jacket patterns, shown here!
