I recently finished and highly recommend Will Guidara’s (former co-owner of Eleven Madison Park) new book, Unreasonable Hospitality. I walked away with so many great reminders about what hospitality is and isn’t. The book also points out that hospitality is not something reserved for the restaurant and event industries, but that the principles of hospitality can be exercised in any field or profession. These last months I have been behind the scenes working closely with our corporate and nonprofit clients to help them organize safe and productive gatherings. And also with couples to help them plan (or re-plan!) their wedding celebrations. It's been overwhelmingly busy at times and challenging in many ways, but despite the curveballs and speed bumps, it is still incredibly rewarding. And each time an event comes to life, I am once again renewed with passion for what I do. So here's to finishing the final quarter of 2021 with fervor and gusto!
Oh, Julia, your wisdom is endless! Is anything better than a delicious piece of cake? Carrot cake with gobs of cream cheese frosting is my personal weakness.
I always enjoy working with clients on the selection of their wedding cake and particularly love seeing which flavors they end up choosing. I usually recommend selecting two flavors so that they can be set alternately at the table for guests to share.

Have you started to put up your holiday decorations? I'm hoping to squeeze in some time to do it over the next few days.
One of the things I always incorporate in my Christmas decor is wreaths. Here are some gorgeous magnolia wreaths that Growing Wild Floral created for a wedding at Meridian House in DC. What a welcome statement! While magnolias may not be at their peak in winter, I love them any time of year!
