According to wikipedia, as of 2013 there were an estimated 2.5 million weddings in the United States with the wedding industry in the U.S. at an estimated worth of 53.4 billion… and this is all with Weddings taking place mainly on two days a week and largely popular during a few months we’ve deemed as “wedding season”.

What could the industry and event planners such as myself do to increase even more sales? Well, it’s simple, we took a page out of the local pizza and restaurant industry’s sales book. Americans likely eat out more on the weekends and restaurants created special days of the week to offer sales that will attract people to eat out during the week. I think there is officially a day of the week for everything thing! Martini Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, Wing Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays to name a few targeted campaigns designed to keep revenue flowing.

How does this translate into the wedding industry? Simple, we’ve created hoopla around dates. Yup, it’s now a high trend to get married on 9-9-19; 2-20-20 and so on. It’s now widely popular to plan your wedding based on a significant date opposed to the day of the week. Bride and grooms are jumping on board too! It’s likely more affordable for the wedding couple to host their wedding on a weekday. Typically wedding venues are less expensive and wedding photographers are more available on weekdays. In addition, the novelty of having this special date printed on their wedding invitations and other decor throughout the wedding makes these weekly I Do’ers feel special.

PSA: if you are hesitant to give your event planner a budget because you think they will spend the max if they know your range.... FIND SOMEONE YOU CAN TRUST!

Even Bill Gates has a budget! It’s not just about what you can afford, it’s about how much you’re willing to spend.

Please don’t allow Etsy and Pinterest fool you to thinking it’s just easy to order items; there’s so much more than goes into it and you have to be willing to do it all if you’re not willing to pay someone to do it for you.

Event planning is a service just like having someone wash your car, polish your nails, cut your grass. All things you COULD do yourself, but you pay someone else to do it for you. Those things come with a cost; it’s a use of their product and most importantly their time.

Please don’t waste a planner’s time by pretending you don’t have a budget because Ms Over The Top here will come back w/ the sun ☀️ and the moon🌙 , some stars ✨, clouds ☁️ and a few rainbows 🌈 only for you to say you can only afford some sand! 🙄

Now I’ve wasted my time and your time and you’re feeling bad because now that you see how great your party COULD be, you’re no longer satisfied with what you can afford! You feel like you’re settling and the wow is gone.

SAVE YOU AND SAVE ME! I can make magic happen with any budget and we can leave the rainbows out if needed! You don’t miss heated floors in your bathroom or heated sidewalks and toilet seats until after you’ve experienced it! If you can’t afford it, don’t go in the store. You CAN be happy with what you CAN afford!!

Be honest. If they judge you then they don’t deserve your business!!
