September marked the 23rd anniversary of 2 the 9s Events. As I reflect on this journey, I am reminded of the pivotal moments that led me to launch this venture. After being laid off from a corporate concierge company during the first dot-com bust in 2000, I made the bold decision to pursue my passion independently. I officially established 2 the 9s Events in September 2001, planning my launch event for Thursday, September 14th—just three days after the tragic events of 9/11. While I considered postponing, I ultimately felt that the community needed a space to unite. With new business cards in hand, and guests enjoying the talents of some of the Bay Area’s top vendors, 2 the 9s Events was launched.
Over the past 23 years, I have had the privilege of:
- Producing over 200 weddings, ranging from intimate micro weddings to elaborate multi-day celebrations
- Supporting non-profit clients in raising millions of dollars for their organizations
Organizing diverse corporate events for clients, from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies
- Experiencing unforgettable moments in my early career, including a humorous mishap at my first wedding (feel free to ask me about it over a cocktail!)
- Delivering events across the country, from the Bay Area to Cape Cod and Seattle to Orlando
- Building strong relationships with outstanding vendor partners nationwide
- Mentoring more than two dozen interns through the San Francisco State University Hospitality and Tourism program
- Collaborating with talented event producers, such as Katie Pehrson, Shannon Peters-Pallen, Ashley Wood-Mirkovich, Sonia Russell, RJB, Tommie Murphy (and more) who continue to inspire me
I am immensely grateful for the support I have received throughout this journey. Organizations like the Women’s Initiative for Self-Employment and the SBA San Francisco have played a crucial role in helping me realize my vision for 2 the 9s Events.
I also owe a heartfelt thank you to my mentors, including Pam Perez and Bree Hughes, whose guidance has been invaluable.
Lastly, but certainly not least, I continue to be grateful for the love, support and patience from my husband, Michael Beber and my son, Henry.
Here’s to many more years of creating memorable events and fostering connections!
