Let’s go back 8 years when I first met you! I was working with Lisa Leachman at A La Occasions and you came in picking out some rentals for a client. I had heard your name and so much about you I was intimidated to actually meet you - you were Bowling Green famous! But we hit it off from the start! Our personalities blended so well and I felt like I had known you for years!

Fast forward 4 years and I was coming to you for guidance on getting my business started. Knowing you were planning to retire soon, you immediately helped get my name out and endorsed me as someone you would recommend to anyone looking for a planner - you even sent people my way that had come to you first. I don’t know that you could ever understand how much this meant, and what it did for the confidence I needed to hit the ground running with my business!

Once when you were a guest at a wedding I did, you handed me the votive off your table and said you were “passing the torch”. I still have that votive!

Being a part of the industry and understanding it’s filled with driven and dedicated people with strong passions and talents, it’s truly incredible to see what you built in Bowling Green just by doing what you love and doing it so well for so long! You should be so proud!

I don’t know a single person who doesn’t smile from ear to ear when they hear your name, and say “gotta love Tootie!”

At your weddings you told people they were on “Tootie Time” and now it’s finally your turn to be on “Tootie Time”! Enjoy retirement - you’ve earned it!

Heyyy! I feel like I should do a little re-introduction since I haven’t posted about weddings in a bit. (Although I look a bit different now lol)

I’m Allie, with Events by Allie! I have been working in the wedding industry since 2017 and hope to continue for many, many more years.

Now let me get real with you guys, and explain a little why you haven’t heard much from me as of late. I started medication for IVF back in January of this year. If you know anyone that has been through that, then you know it’s no joke. Being on and off different intense hormone medications certainly messes with a person. The first half of this year were some of the darkest months of my life. I struggled big time. I was not in control of my emotions.

Just when I started feeling like myself again, at 11 weeks pregnant, I was rushed to the ER in severe pain and assuming we were experiencing a miscarriage. Instead, we found out I had developed something called a subchorionic hemorrhage - a blood clot between the uterus and chorion membrane that surrounds the amniotic sac. We learned these are somewhat common in early pregnancy but are typically small in size (1-2cm) and women don’t even know they have them. In my case, it measured 10cm and we were told to prepare for it to still ultimately lead to a miscarriage. All we could do was wait.

For 2 long, stressful, and torturing months we were considered high risk - until just recently, praise God, it had shrunk small enough to no longer be a concern, and we were cleared! What a little fighter we have! 🩵 (Thank you to all who were praying and supporting us through this time!)

Life has been hard, unexpected, and challenging, to say the least. However, I am not naive to the fact that others have had harder journeys than ours, and/or are still in the midst of them. You never know what is going on in peoples lives. Be kind.

All that to say, life is starting to feel normal again, and we are finally able to be excited and celebrate this baby boy coming in January! I am able to focus on more than myself and am excited to jump back into sharing my weddings again - almost 10 weddings to catch you up on - along with 7 more for the rest of the year!

And YES, we are still booking for 2024 - about 6-8 spots left - so c’mon! 🎉

I know I’ve been MIA lately, and that because well…LIFE. Buuuuuut, we are SO happy to finally get to share this! It’s been a looooong journey, and we’ve faced several complications - I’ll share our story sometime - but for now we are ready to CELEBRATE! Baby Coode coming January 2024! Thank you Jesus!

Sometimes brides can struggle with committing to incorporating black into their wedding. Let this be the little push to go for it!! Maybe it’s black bridesmaid dresses, or black dinner plates, or black signage, or black chairs - there are many options! At one point in time it may have been viewed as dark, or “halloweeny” but not any more! It is elegant, clean, and makes such a statement!

I will always love a clean, classic, and simple wedding dress 🤍

Wedding Dress Shopping Tips:

✨Start shopping for you wedding dress anywhere from 10-12 months out

✨Allow for about 2-4 different appointments

✨It is best to have your dress purchased by the 9 month mark to give ample time for it to come in and have any alterations made that need to be - especially if you are wanting to do some customization!

✨If you don’t have that long of an engagement, don’t stress! Look at the sample racks, and you would go home with the dress that same day. (Also, your bridal consultant won’t show you dresses they can’t get in in time for your wedding!)

✨Wear n**e undergarments

✨Bring a pair of heels

✨Try to limit the crew you bring with you to less than 4 people - you don’t want too many opinions, it can get overwhelming very easily,

✨Always be sure to ask if the place supplies/allows champagne to celebrate when you find the one!! 🥂

Let’s talk sunset! 🌅

Not only are sunset photos obviously beautiful and an incredible photo op, but knowing the time of your sunset dictates your entire wedding day!

When I start building timelines, the first thing I do is look up the projected sunset time for the wedding date, and location.

I then discuss doing a first look or not, to gauge how much time is needed after the ceremony for photos, and that is how I guide my clients on choosing their ceremony time!

One of the hardest parts of being a business owner is finding balance. It is so easy to become consumed. Learning to manage my time between my clients, my husband, my family, my friends, myself, and my God proves to be an ongoing challenge.

So, I’m taking a moment to stop and just acknowledge how grateful I am that the Lord gave me a passion strong enough to start this business, but also to give him all the Glory!

So many things come together to make a wedding day. In these photos alone there ate at least 7 different people that deserve credit! Call me crazy, but one of my favorite parts of my job is getting to be in charge of all those people.

Now, I hesitated to even use that terminology of “being in charge” because it gives off the bossy, mean, and controlling stereotype that wedding planners have. But it’s not like that to me. I see it as an honor, and a privilege to “be in charge”.

I enjoy being the one with all the answers that everyone comes to with their questions because it means I get to help! It means I get the opportunity to make everyone’s job a little easier, or their experience a little better.

To me, “being in charge” is something that lights my fire; it gives me purpose! To me it means being a source of information, a decision maker, a problem solver, and a sense of peace.

The best time of year is here!
I have been spending my days outside or with the windows open and working on all these upcoming October weddings!!

One of the best things about this season is all of the colors we get to see implemented in weddings!! Some of my favorite fall colors are jewel tones like these!

A little tip when you decide to play with color for your wedding: You DO NOT have to get hung up on your bridesmaid dress color! It doesn’t even have to count as one of your “colors”, and if it is, you DO NOT have to put it everywhere. I’m here to tell you that your tablecloths or your napkins or your flowers DO NOT have to match your bridesmaid dresses. It will save you so much unnecessary stress!

If you have seen our stories as of late then you have been reading about some exciting news!

We have accepted a contract planner position with - a wedding venue south of Nashville, TN!

🥂What does that mean?

We will be planning a handful of the weddings at Mint Springs, while still planning weddings in Bowling Green, KY and wherever else you all take us!

It does not mean we are moving, nor are no longer accepting weddings outside of Mint Springs! It is just simply a wonderful opportunity for us and very special for a couple of reasons:

1) I got married at Mint Springs Farm on April 7, 2019! Getting to send brides down the aisle where I was once a bride myself hits differently 🤍

2) I got my start in the wedding industry working at Mint Springs back in 2017! I worked there for 4 years and then my husband and I decided to move back to Bowling Green, KY and that’s when I started up Events by Allie. Fast forward 2 years, and now having the opportunity to plan a number of weddings again at Mint Springs is a very unexpected but incredibly exciting blessing!

What have I learned?

1) Gods plans are far more powerful than my own. I couldn’t have dreamt this up as a possibility for my future!

2) Change is good! It brings about growth, makes you stronger, and shouldn’t be something to shy away from.

3) Never say never - cause you literally never know what could happen.
