« SHKT », un nouveau nom de scène pour Shakti qui après 8 ans de deejaying sous le pseudo « Cheval » décide de revenir aux sources, à son identité première : Shakti qui en sanskrit signifie « force ». Mélomane depuis son jeune âge, il élaborait déjà des mixtapes artisanales pour son entourage,une passion qui l'a conduit ensuite à organiser bon nombre d'évènements musicaux . Co-fondateur de la séri
e des "Sound Of" (7 éditions de 2010 à 2016) ou du festival Mama Jaz (2 éditions de 2015 à 2016) son but est de "démocratiser" la musique et de ravir les oreilles les moins averties avec ses perles sonores dénichées aux 4 coins du monde. Programmé dans les plus importants festivals de l'Ile Maurice comme Kaz'out (2015), Dombeya (2015), Eureka Jam festival (2015), Porlwi by light/Sound of Porlwi (2015), The Bridge (2015), Ekta (2015) au cours desquels il a occupé la scène avec des têtes d'affiche comme Nickodemus, Grouch, Lefto, Radioslave,Secret Cinema, Hypnagog, Jossietech, Rollercoaster entre autres. Sa diversité musicale lui permet également de s'accorder avec différentes atmosphères: expositions artistiques ( Faceless Forgotten 2015, Idantite Konzige 2016, Douloureuse Beauté 2016), cérémonies corporates (Tekoma Awards 2016, Afrasia Golf Open 2015), ou soirées à thème dans des bars comme Le Sunset Café, Lakaz, Big Wi***es... Fort de son expérience, des établissements lui ont laissé carte blanche et en ont fait leur résident (Baràbar 2011 à 2014, Henessy 2015). Ses prestations se comptent également de par le monde: Varkala, Lisbonne, Saint Gilles, Londres...
Ce qu’il aime jouer ? C’est cette musique intemporelle, qui traverse les âges sans une ride. « Aucune ère n’a créé de meilleurs artistes que d’autres. Quand je joue, je crée un tout, une osmose entre l’ancien et le nouveau. J’efface les frontières du temps pour laisser place à une musique qui parle à tous. »
Apatride musical, Shakti est citoyen du monde et ne suit aucune bannière. Ces sets sont des voyages qui traversent les territoires éclectiques du jazz, de la disco à la techno via la house mais aussi du hip-hop au funk en passant par la world music. « J’ai envie d’ouvrir les esprits bien souvent pollués par la musique commerciale à d’autres horizons. Je veux proposer autre chose, diversifier l’environnement sonore de l’île, partager mes recherches musicales constituées au fil de mes découvertes». Anticonformiste, marginal, caméléon, sur ses platines les morceaux se lient, s’allient, fusionnent savoureusement dans un seul but : stimuler les esprits et les corps.
