Great cosplay contests have great MC to announce the wonderful contestants. With that in mind, we're excited to welcome back Sakura Sunset as our MC this year!

Sakura Sunset Cosplay is a local Wisconsin, award-winning cosplayer who has been honing her techniques since summer of 2013. With a variety of skills including wig styling, sewing, prop making, EVA foam and thermplastic arm making, mold making and resin casting, and some special FX makeup, her goal with every cosplay is to learn something new. Light Fantastic took place on Washington Island in 2023 and gotta say it's one of my favorite locations to shoot at now. It's got multiple different types of nature backgrounds and it's small enough that it allows for multiple different locations for a single shoot. We however did have to walk up A LOT of stairs to find this pretty little patch of grass 🙃

I made this cosplay as zero waste as I think I possibly could. One of the few things I bought new for this cosplay was the fan. It looks so amazing with this cosplay I just couldn't say no!

Hope everyone is enjoying Katsu! Pekoe is a deceivingly hard cosplay to get into. I decided to use my own hair as a base as pigtail wigs are kind of pain. Plus saved a little money. I do use a 3/4 bang in Deep Brown from that matches my own hair almost perfectly as my own bangs are very different than the style I want for Pekoe.

I'm only 2-3 episodes deep of Hazbin Hotel and I really like it! I miss the more sketchy, organic feel of the pilot and Helluva Boss but still going to keep chugging along with it. Have a look at a previous Alastor Radio Demon wig and ears commission I did a couple years ago. Let me know if you'd be interested in your own wig or small prop commission!

2023 is coming to a close and even though I didn't make many cosplays for myself I cosplayed pretty much every opportunity I could! I went to several meetups and a couple conventions plus .event. I also styled many wigs as which several are pictured (reminder I do wig and prop commissions!). Even though cosplay for myself may be sparse these days as I build my wig and prop business and my art/design business my passion for cosplay does not waver! I've had a pretty exhausting year but I'm hoping 2024 will prove to be better or at least not as bad 😅. What are you excited for in 2024? One of my goals is hitting 1k followers and starting a P@treon. If I started one what are rewards you'd be interested in? I would probably start small with YouTube credits, maybe a private Discord with monthly game nights, etc. Then I'd love to also do a cosplay senpai program where I would help people research how to make their own cosplays!

Starting January 1, 2024 my wig and prop commissions are increasing from $25 to $27 per hour. If you fill out my commission form by December 31st, 2023 11:59pm CST it will still be quoted at $25/hour. 50% deposit is due 2 weeks after quote is sent, pending materials are still in stock from suppliers. I am only opening up one large prop commission so I would recommend getting that in ASAP. Please note filling out my form does not guarantee your commission will be chosen.

Better late than never, am I right?! I decided to take CCN easier than previous years. I'm debuting my own swimsuit design of Rosalina with a lot of inspiration from her design in Mario Kart 8. Wish me luck as I'm going to try and get into the Otaku Craft Fair selling my art from Princess Phoenix Studio, LLC io on Saturday where I'll be wearing Toga. And super lazy Sunday as Tsukimi. I'm really sad that I won't be competing but I've been prioritizing wig & prop commissions, selling my art, and trying (but kind of failing) at finding a work-life balance. What are you wearing?
