The Snowshoe Scurry is on Saturday January 6, 2024 to Saturday January 27, 2024. It includes the following events: Race 1- 5k, Race 1 - 10k, Race 2 - 5k, and Race 2 10k.

Grab your friends- Trail race tomorrow 1/6. Meet for a run to start at the south arb entrance. 5k loop will be marked with orange cones! We’ve got a buff or mug giveaway, warm coffee and smiling faces. Come join! Signup online before if possible, or in person starting at 8am inside Indoorance.

🚨 WE HAVE SNOW - I've planed a fun new type of challenge for Saturday, Jan 28. 9am start. How many loops will you do??

Where: Norman Vethe School Prairie Trails. Cottage Grove, on Taylor Street about 0.5 mile from N. at the intersection of Taylor and Yarrow Hill Rd.

When: Saturday, Jan 28 9am

What: 1.1 mile loop will be marked out. Challenge yourself to do 1, 2, 3, 5?

Why: We haven't had snow in a while and snowshoe can be tough to just pick up. This option gives you a chance to challenge yourself with a goal but have it broken into manageable segments. Also we'll get to see each other more!

🚨 No race Saturday 🚨 Sadly, the mooshy, fresh snow of yesterday has since turned to ice and the trails are not something I personally would feel good running on. Too many frozen ice prints etc. makes it too much of an injury risk.
Spread the word to anyone who was planning to make it out.
I sure hope we get some good snow and can get out together- maybe next weekend or looking at Feb!

What ya see is what ya get tomorrow at McCarthy. It’s mostly all hard packed trail. I did it today in snowshoes but would prob be best in spikes of some sort. Choose what works best for you and come on out to do the 5k course tomorrow morning (9am start).
Head out straight under the trailhead arch and follow the orange markers. Take a left over the bridge for a little loop then back over the bridge and to the left again. Marks are there unless the wind messes with it. When in doubt follow the snowshoe signs which are very well done throughout the park!

Hi, Jackie here 👋 Just a little background on WHY.
Why snowshoe? Almost 10 years ago I was struggling through another Wisconsin winter. Complaining. Counting the days. Running on a treadmill or out on the ice. Until one day when I took a bad fall outside on a slick spot and broke a rib. Ouch!! No more. Our friend introduced us to snowshoes and I was hooked. A SAFE winter running option AND out on the trails. Ideal.
Snowshoe Scurry ❄️ was born from the feeling that I wanted more people to discover the freedom and joy of winter running (or hiking!).
Since starting this series 9 years ago I now Iook forward to winter, to seeing new and old snowshoe friends and getting so dang strong I’m ready for anything come spring 💪🏻 I found PURPOSE for these months.
If you are foundering, lost or bore in training or not sure how to get happy I strongly recommend connecting with nature on a pair of snowshoes. Come on out to our next event and meet people of all shapes, sizes, paces and experience. You will have a community of winter warriors. ❤️
