Sweet lil J tapping and clapping along has been in our classes since she was a wee babe … she’d really sit and take things in in those days… some might wonder , is she getting anything out of it this at all?? But research shows that musical ability comes from early and often exposure … so those little babies in class plopped on the ground or your lap just staring - they are doin the work (!!!)… evidenced here by now big kid J , clappin and stompin on beat 😎🎶🥁

Early Childhood Music & Art Online Class Scholarship Program!
Since 2007, Hootenanny Brooklyn has joyfully provided early childhood music and art classes to our community. We’ve always fostered the notion that singing, dancing, laughing, art making and creating are essential building blocks for every child and every family.
During this time of crisis we have felt especially motivated to reach out to those families that, because of income loss due to Covid, or because of greater long standing systemic inequities wouldn’t be able to join our classes.
With all that in mind, we are launching our GIVE A HOOT! Community Scholarship Program!
With GIVE A HOOT! We will be offering FREE spots in our online classes for up to 25 families with kids under age 5! Music classes are available in Spanish! Our great hope is that we will be able to share music and arts with a wider community than ever before!
We are reaching out to families in the wider Kensington and Sunset Park neighborhoods through two amazing women running for City Council @shahanafrombk and @whitneyhu .

When we had to go virtual with our spring classes we asked our teachers to make videos each week in addition to teaching Zoom classes. We have been amazed by how talented, creative, and resourceful our teachers have been. In this case the beautiful Anath Benais also has the good fortune of having a family band at her disposal. These are clips from her Spanish Music Class. We still have spots this summer! Maybe get some dulingo going and add a Spanish music class and you'll be on your way, singing and smiling all the while!
