Introducing GiveBack South Australia (GIVEBACK South Australia) – a new social enterprise supporting South Australians facing barriers in the workforce to gain valuable work experience and a part time wage. GIVEBACK SA will also be supporting a select group of local charities each year to raise vital funds for the services they provide to our community.

GIVEBACK SA has engaged a Community Bridging Services (CBS) Inc. client to work on GIVEBACK SA’s Little CHARITY Catering Trailer – an onsite, social enterprise gourmet catering service.

With a major shortage of food and beverage staff in South Australia, GIVEBACK SA believes that this is an ideal opportunity to utilise a major, untapped resource to fill these roles – people with disabilities who already live in SA and want to contribute to their community while gaining valuable job skills to support them to live independently.

The truck has a recently been fitted with new brakes and a reconditioned gearbox.

The truck measures a tiny 3.3m x 1.5m and can operate under a portable shade or café umbrella. The hot water hand washing station ensures food hygiene standards can be adhered to, while the grey water is collected for proper disposal after an event. The BBQ flame is safely contained at all times. It is fitted with lighting above the cooking, food preparation and sink areas, so it can be used day or night. The truck has two large batteries which operate the eskies, lighting and hand washing station short term, or it can be plugged into mains power for longer term use, or a portable generator in locations without mains power. It has the storage area and equipment required to cater to up to one hundred guests at a time. The truck fits into the smallest of spaces – including inside sheds and under verandahs and carports.

We thank the Pilgrim Uniting Church for the opportunity to provide a free sausage sizzle to their community lounge clients over the past couple of months - it was very rewarding! This week we will be serving our gourmet beef burgers (bacon, cheese, ketchup, mustard, red onion, tomato, lettuce and mayo) and grilled chicken skewer with Caesar salad (bacon, egg, herd croutons and Parmesan cheese) out front of the Pilgrim Uniting Church in Flinders Street.
