Join us in welcoming Lexie Mills to the Fayette County Fair Board!
Hi, my name is Lexie Mills.
I am a mother, wife, daughter, volunteer, and livestock enthusiast. Professionally, I work for a pharmaceutical company as a director in the US Generics Retail space. However, my true passions and hobbies are the activities outside of my eight to five.
My husband Bill and I have two daughters, Myla and Gwen Hailey that absolutely love everything about showing animals and being at the fair. My oldest Myla rides horses, shows cattle and has dabbled in showing pigs a few times. My youngest follows in her sisters’ footsteps and wants to be just like her big sister.
Let’s discuss how I got here. When I was eight years old, I was introduced to 4-H and the fair. My neighbor gave me a lamb to show out of his field, after that first year, I was hooked and continued to show until I was 18. Once my show career was over, I knew I did not want to leave the hobby behind. The industry had such an impact on me and my friendships I knew I had to give back to the next generation. It was my duty to continue to give the youth in our area opportunities to showcase their projects and build those lifelong relationships just as I was able to. This led me to multiple roles over the years including At-large Director for the Pennsylvania Club Livestock Association, show manager and coordinator for Fayette County Premier, and most recently the President and one of the founders of the Pa Youth Livestock Expo in Harrisburg Pa.
To know me is to know I have a volunteering heart and I am always willing to lend a helping hand. In addition to the above livestock related activities, I am also involved in two charitable organizations. My husband and I hold an annual Tractor Ride that benefits Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in honor of our niece, and I also sit on a board for the Mrs. Claus Club organization that provides comfort baskets to cancer patients in our local area. Both organizations are dear to my heart, and I am proud to be part of them.
Lastly, to me the Fayette County Fair is one of the best county fairs around. I would love to be able to bring a fresh perspective and help with the small details that could make it the greatest county fair. If I were elected, I would pour my passion into keeping the great traditions alive while still being innovative and evolving.
