F is for... Flow Arts Interactive! Come see them at FIGMENT Boston 2019!

Flow Arts are expressive and athletic at the same time. Flow is like a spell you cast with your daily practice. Each day learning new things and putting in time perfecting what you already know slowly adds energy to the spell. Until one day you dance and your spell is cast, you both lose and find yourself, you're unthinking but aware, acting without judgement. The flow state has been show to have benefits for body and mind we don't fully understand yet. Flow Arts Interactive is a space devoted to movement arts. We will offer lessons and performances of various kinds of flow and circus arts. Come visit our teachers, learn a new skill. We will offer workshops on poi, hula hoops, staff, juggling, yoga, and many many more. Come play!

Is it possible for one nonprofit arts event to embody, contain, and command the creative energy of an entire culture? Seems a bit much. But consider Figment. Launched in 2007 with the goal of creating a one-time free arts event that about 500 people attended on a demilitarized island in New York Har...

**Artist Statement**
Super A is known for his hyper-realistic and ethereal depictions of metaphorical narratives. Juxtaposing real and surreal figures, Super A’s work creates a strong critique of global and social issues. In exploring his work, we are often confronted with the challenge, or even facade, of individual liberty in the face of injustice and oppression.

In his monumental mural for The Greenway, Super A questions the social, political, and emotional systems that confine our freedom. He illustrates the urgent necessity of breaking free from those confines, like the Barn Swallows pictured, in order to truly live. A looking glass, the glass cloche allows us to examine the invisible societal and structural borders trapping us. In his title, Super A conceptualizes the way these cracks and fissures grow; elucidating how systems can shatter with even the smallest fissure through the raucous vibrations of our unified resistance. The pursuit of freedom is fiercely instinctive; it orders the natural world, moving us from chaos and conflict toward unity and equity.

We are excited to announce that we are now accepting entries for The City of Dreams 2019 Pavilion Design Competition!

FIGMENT has teamed with the Emerging New York Architects Committee (ENYA) of the American Institute of Architects NY Chapter (AIANY) and the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY) to host a competition to design and construct an architectural pavilion in Lighthouse Park on Roosevelt Island, the City of Dreams Pavilion. The 2019 pavilion will be our ninth City of Dreams Pavilion, and our first on Roosevelt Island.

The City of Dreams Pavilion will be a gathering place for people to meet, learn about the arts programs on Roosevelt Island, enjoy a performance or lecture, and enjoy this temporary structure. Our theme for the pavilion, the City of Dreams, points toward the future. If we imagine a future New York City where anything is possible, what would it look like? In our wildest and most optimistic dreams, what is the future of the city?

To learn more about the competition and how to apply, visit this link:
