👋🏼 It’s taken me a minute to respond - so this message is for those of you who have reached out about my shop in Keansburg.
I know Im super late, unfortunately, I will not be re-opening this year nor have I relocated the shop. I was blessed with last year’s wonderful opportunity, and yet came with an unexpected event. I now have to solely care for my dad & the responsibilities that come with that. It would be unhealthy for me to do both at this time.
Only God knows whats next. I still take custom dessert table orders when I have the free time and I’m still hopefully to plan & explore a different avenue, so please stay tuned. 💛

So… I’ve been keeping a secret since March! Candid Confections is now open for the summer at the
This would not be possible at all without the help of my biggest support team (my family).. As life would have it - this journey had to be paused back in April due to a family emergency, which pretty much shattered the idea of being able to open by Memorial Weekend. My 2 oldest decided to push for this to happen & have taken the reins themselves to see my shop open in time..
Last weekend was truly bittersweet & humbling even though I couldn’t be there for the 1st day.
Sincerely thank you to my family for every single drop of sweat, anxiety & support in seeing this through in my absence. Gratitude & Thanks to all the support and positive feedback from everyone who purchased a treat.
Those who have been along this business journey with me have always pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and start thinking bigger.. using baby steps, this is my bigger - for now.. thanks cuz
So far my kids are willing to open every weekend for me & I am hoping every chance i get to pop up to help out too..

Aren’t these cute?! When we were asked to make 600 of these we had no idea what we were in for. Each box had 3 flavor cookies: chocolate chip, oatmeal cranberry & double chocolate x3. Lets just say it was all a blur but we did it!
And I couldn’t have done it without the help of my niece she is THE best for sticking with me the entire time & gave me the extra push when i needed it! Love u mama!
My babies helped out tremendously as well as a few other family members b/c every little bit of help had a HUGE impact in finishing this project on time.
Unfortunately this cookie box is NOT part of the Candid Confections product line but was the perfect treat for this event.
A special thanks to Principal Herman for thinking of me. Hope they all enjoy 💛!

Hi, I’m Candice Rodriguez-Laboy.
I’m the owner of Candid Confections, but first, I’m a mom to 3 fun-loving, beautiful children and a spunky English Bulldog, and I’m a wife to my awesome husband. In addition to being mom 24/7 and juggling sports between my kids, I’m a full-time high school educator.
I’ve been a lifelong fan of art and food. When I was young, I aspired to be an interior designer and architect, always crafting, designing, and drawing any chance that I could. At the same time, I loved food. I vividly remember impatiently watching my family create foods from scratch, counting the seconds until I was able to take a bite. My love for art and food finally merged into a single dream when I took a cake decorating class and realized I could apply both. After developing a sensitivity to gluten, I learned to experiment with recipes so that I can still enjoy textures and great tastes while eating gluten free. This combination led to the founding of Dulce by Candi in 2012, which is now Candid Confections.
Candid Confections is a creative outlet that I dedicate my free time to. In addition to offering cakes, desserts, and dessert tables, I’m blogging with the hope of encouraging open dialogue too. I plan to share my personal experiences with health, well-being, and family to inspire other families. Welcome, and thanks for joining me on this sweet journey.
