• BABY • From Fiancé, to Husband and Wife, to Mom and Dad, I’ve been there to document it all. Words cannot explain how amazing it is to document a couple’s life in all its changes. They go from clients to friends and I get so excited every time I get to see them again. Baby Broussard is due just a few days before Jamie’s first birthday and I can’t wait to meet him!

• BABY • Life with a newborn is so strange. Just when you think you have them figured out, they change overnight. They become more and more interested in the world and it’s the most beautiful thing to witness.

For first borns, you want their next milestone to hurry up and get here. When will they crawl, laugh, babble, eat strawberries??? Sometimes we have to remind ourselves to slow down and enjoy the baby stage while it’s here. Pretty soon they’ll be seven years old learning how to read and getting embarrassed by you.

Obviously, this session really put me in my feels and I am so incredibly honored to have documented this short period in Lennon’s young life. She’s one lucky little girl with these two around to watch her grow up.

• CREATIVE • Once I take the safe shot, the photo of the moment that every photographer needs to get, I ask myself what else I can capture in this moment. A different perspective, a closer view, shift the focus from subject to background? The safe shot tells what happened, the creative shots tell where it happened or how it felt. This is how storytelling comes to life.

Aaron + Jennifer’s day could not have been more beautiful. The weather was perfect, everyone was loving and supportive, and these two were just happy to be there.

I cannot get over how sweet and intimate this session was. The love Jarrett and Sidney have for each other is contagious and was just a joy to capture.

Check out this bohemian, intimate wedding at Inlet Beach. Absolutely loved this bride's style with all the custom, personal details.

Scott + Darby’s wedding day was such a beautiful celebration of their love. It was such an intimate day with about 10 guests and it was just so special to witness and capture.

• GREEN • Part two of Analise and Patrick’s wedding at the ! When Analise reached out to me she sent me her mood board. FYI, I love it when bride’s do this!

If you haven’t noticed yet, green is my favorite color so I was SUPER excited to see her color palette. The guys all wore green suits and their reception was decorated in green! I also loved the mix matched bridesmaids dresses with the perfect colors to transition from summer to fall.

Can we also take a moment to appreciate ?! With it forecasted to rain all day, they moved the ceremony indoors and FBTS killed it! There were also lots of poppies in the floral arrangements for Analise’s grandfather, pictured at the end. He sang a song with Analise during the ceremony and it was the sweetest moment between the two of them.

• GETTING READY • This wedding was just too beautiful to try and share all in one post, so here is part one of Analise + Patrick’s wedding at the .

First of all, how unique and gorgeous is her dress by ! I’m now convinced that every bride needs a cape on her wedding day.

From with her new last initial, to the flowers in her hair, to the poppy pin in honor of her grandfather, all of her details were just so beautiful.

More photos to come soon!

• TRAVEL • I have a couple of reasons as to why I bring my camera on my travels.

Main reason, I really love traveling! Like I’m actually obsessed and can’t get enough, especially if it’s out exploring God’s beautiful nature. It’s something I want to capture and I’ll eventually make little books from my trips to look back on.

Second reason, you wouldn’t hire someone to travel to your adventurous elopement or session if you weren’t sure they liked traveling, right?

Well I hope by now, no matter how long you’ve been following me, you’ve learned that I really love traveling and will happily travel anywhere you want to take me! Desert, mountains, seaside, wherever.

If you want your anniversary trip captured or you want to wear hiking boots on your wedding day, take me with you! I’ve already found all the good spots in Yellowstone and I’m working on Glacier now.

• THE PEARL RB • Wow… still in awe over how beautiful Friday’s wedding was! It all came together so beautifully and by chance. Ben and Alli actually chose their black and white color scheme before they booked , which was the perfect match seeing as how it was the venue’s brand colors too.

This sweet couple not only had to postpone their wedding once, but two times! It honestly came together so well though and the weather could not have been more perfect.

After spending so much time apart from family and friends in the past year, it was so much fun to photograph their happiness in being together again. 🤍

• LIFE-LONG LOVE • You ever meet those couples that you can instantly tell they were meant for each other? They found their person and it shows.

I loved photographing Greg + Abbey’s joy in this new chapter of their life together in my favorite location, Grayton Beach State Park. They brought along their fur baby, Maisie Mae, too. I cannot get over her sweet smile!

It makes me so happy when I get to meet my couples before their wedding day. It makes me even more excited to see them again and I cannot wait for their wedding on Jekyll Island!

• BROTHERS • I’ve photographed the Robinson’s quite a few times whenever I’ve offered mini sessions, but yesterday was the first time I got them for almost a whole hour!

I had so much fun capturing their children’s free spirits and their big love for each other. The bond between the two brothers is so sweet and I loved documenting it! It won’t be long before they think holding hands is gross and kissing Mom is embarrassing, so I gotta capture it while I can.

Btw, Lauren owns and trust me, you need to check out her store. So many beautiful things! 🐚

• SUMMER • Florida loves teasing us with summery days then slamming us back into cold weather in the spring. As much as I love my sweaters and fuzzy socks, I’m ready to start going to the beach with my family again. Also going to attempt to get as tan as these two are, but I say that every year. ☀️

• EDITORIAL • When Emma talked about how she and David wanted their wedding to be just the two of them, simple, and a bit editorial, I knew it was gonna be a good one. Seems like Mother Nature was on our side too, cause the temperature was perfect and the gulf was calm. There were so many emotions and it was just the most breathtaking 2 hours.

If you’re not entirely sure that the elopement route is for you, let these photos convince you otherwise.

These two booked a 3 nights stay in the cutest house in Seaside for their wedding weekend. They saw each other for the first time on the porch overlooking the ocean. Then we headed over to Grayton Beach for their ceremony on a sand bar and strolled around the beach til the sun set. Emma’s veil was gorgeous and a huge source of inspiration. The way it caught the light... ✨

• DESERT SUNSET • Gosh, I love sunsets on the beach, but sunsets in the desert hit differently. Maybe it’s the way the sun disappears behind the mountains or the colors of the desert are reflected in the sky, but it’s all just so beautiful!

I achieved this dreamy shot by taking my lens off my camera. You might be thinking, “Kayla... how can you take a picture if your lens is off?” Well, it’s called free lensing and it’s a really neat way to create a tilt shift effect. You should try it sometime. 🌵

• HOME • Hannah shared some photos of her home on Instagram and every time I saw them pop up I wanted to ask if I could pleeeease photograph them in it! Finally got around to asking and she said yes! Obviously.

I knew that I really wanted to capture the light streaming through their windows too. So after rescheduling a few times due to cloudy weather and sickness, we finally got to do it this morning! It could not have been anymore perfect.

We sunbathed in the window light, talked about their life, played with their dogs, and laughed when Tim played the ukulele off key. Give me more intimate, in home sessions please! ✨

• NEUTRALS • Just wanted to take a moment to appreciate just how gorgeous this bouquet and floral installment from is! The neutral tones were perfect for Joanne + Paul's fall wedding at the , but seriously have you ever seen a bouquet as unique and beautiful as this one?!

The floral installment was their ceremony backdrop, but afterwards I definitely couldn't waste it. I dragged it over to the opposite wall and did all the family photos and bridal portraits in front of it and put the cake in front of it while we were out taking sunset photos.

A big benefit to having a small wedding is being able to invest more in the details of your wedding day, since you're not paying for a large venue, big buffet, or wedding favors. Plus, when you're from out of town it turns your wedding into a fun vacation with all of your loved ones.

• THE WILD WEST • Ever since I've known David he's told me many times of how much he loves Montana. His grandparents used to live there and he'd spend weeks exploring and hunting in the mountains with Pops. Well this summer he will finally get the chance to take me to Montana!

I'm so so excited to explore Wyoming and Montana together. We plan on driving through Yellowstone + Glacier for a week and soaking in all the mountain views. We usually take a trip every year, but couldn't do it last year. In 2018 and 2019 we went to New York, Boston, and Cape Cod, so it'll be fun to shake it up and explore mountains instead of cities.

Did you miss out on a trip with your love last year too? Well, if you decide to swing by Yellowstone or Glacier while we're there June 5-13, let me know so I can document your trip together in one of the most beautiful places on Earth!

• NYE WEDDING • What’s the best way to end the year? Getting married, of course! I had so much fun with this crowd on Thursday shooting Shafer and Morganne’s intimate wedding. With a 78% chance of rain and a tornado warning, I wasn’t sure how the day was gonna go. Luckily the rain held off til after the ceremony and no tornados showed up. 🙌🏻
If you haven’t figured it out already, green is my favorite color. I was OBSESSED with the bridesmaids green, velvet dresses! David and I actually had the some color green for our wedding too. Shoutout to for making this day go by so smoothly and for the epic floral arrangements!

01/01/2021

• 2021 • I'm a little nervous to say that I'm excited for the new year... Anyone else? If there's one thing I've learned from 2020 though, it's that I alone am responsible for my outlook on the new year. No matter what happens this year, I need to focus on the positives instead of the negatives. It's up to YOU to make this your best year yet, no matter what happens.⠀⠀
So many people were hurt last year and several small business were permanently closed. It's made me really appreciate how lucky I am to have this job along with such amazing clients. Many of them chose to downsize and have their wedding anyways and only a few postponed for next year. It was heartbreaking seeing their plans have to change, but so amazing to watch them realize that the most important part of their wedding is each other. Not where it happened or what it looked like, but the fact that they were joining their lives together.⠀⠀
If you're looking for encouragement in the new year, you should join the text community. I'm starting the new year with this verse that they sent out last month. “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

• WHAT DO I DO • Hey, it's me! I promise I smile and laugh a lot, I just like acting cool in front of the camera. So you probably know what I do by now. I take photos with my fancy camera. It's not hard to figure out. But that's not all I do.⠀⠀
I'm a detail oriented person, so it always excites me when couples want my input on other aspects of their wedding day. You may think you'll irritate me if you ask which outfit looks best, which venue has the most picturesque scenery, or what kind of color scheme to go for, but trust me. It's not irritating! I love helping with those kind of things!⠀⠀
I'm not a wedding planner or designer by any means, but planning the timeline is something I do for all of my couples too. Every photographer works differently and I can usually guess how long each event takes. Plus, I add in a little extra time, just incase anything runs late. So if you hire me to shoot your wedding or session, send me all the emails and inspo! Can't wait to create the photos of your dreams!

• WATERCOLOR • Woke up yesterday morning to rain clouds and drove to Watercolor in the rain, but once I got to the the sun was starting to peek through the clouds! I honestly love shooting after it rains, because it makes everything greener and really saturates the colors.⠀⠀
Meghan and Jon came down to Watercolor for the very first time for their wedding! You have to have a lot of trust in your wedding team to do that. Holly with is an amazing wedding planner though and helped make this intimate wedding run so smoothly. And when is involved, you know it's going to be beautiful.

• FUN • I am so incredibly lucky to have the best couples ever! No matter what’s thrown their way, they just laugh it off and have a good time. Rarely do large weddings ever run on time, but luckily I make my timelines super flexible just incase things happen. These two were such a joy to be around and judging by these pictures, you’d probably never guess that the best man forgot to grab the bride’s wedding band for their ceremony. 🤣
I’ve encouraged people to bring their dogs to their wedding, but Saturday was the first time I’ve ever had a couple bring their duck to their wedding! Swipe to see all the fun we had and Dale the duck watching Mary Catherine walk down the aisle.

• FLORAL DREAM • I couldn’t resist sharing at least one sneak peek from yesterday’s intimate wedding. When I went up onto the ’s rooftop my jaw dropped to the floor! It was a literal dream and I seriously debated sneaking this floral backdrop into my car and taking it home with me. I would’ve had a hard time getting all the fluff from the pampas out of my car, but it would’ve been worth it, lol.
Jo’s vision for her was was so inspiring and I loved all the rust and neutral colors she went with. Major shoutout of course to for executing her vision so well! And that bouquet... the orchids coming out of the bouquet are just so gorgeous. Brides take notes!

• 11-12-13 • Seven years ago David brought me to where we first met, knelt down in the parking lot and proposed to me with my mother’s engagement ring.
We knew each other almost 3 years, but we had only officially been dating for three months. A lot of people asked us why we moved so fast and as cheesy as it sounds, we just knew. We had zero doubt in our minds that we were meant to be together and that we could be happy together.
It hasn’t always been easy of course. We had less than $600 between the two of us when we got married, but we wanted to build our life together even if it was from the ground up.
He chose to propose on 11-12-13, because he knows how much I love numbers and dates. He always remembers the little things. 🧡

• SECRET GARDEN • It’s always a joy to photograph this family and I’ve been doing it since 2017! They added another little girl to the Geitner Girl Gang this year and she’s the sweetest of them all. Photographing kids with lots of personality and energy is the best and I had to capture that movement in the first photo.

• FALL • Sunsets in the fall are the most beautiful, there’s no denying it! They just have a more golden glow to them, which almost makes up for the fact that the sun sets so early now... It becomes a game for me to see how long I can make golden hour last as the sun shines through different parts of the trees.
