On November 3, 2024, Mike Pearlman — the visionary behind the modern NORRA experience — took his rightful place in the Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame! ✨🌵

Mike didn't just revive NORRA in 2010 with Eliseo Garcia — he reinvented it. Taking his father’s legendary 1967 Mexican 1000 blueprint, he transformed it into the iconic NORRA Mexican 1000, celebrating vintage racing, good vibes, and Baja magic. 🏁

From the roar of Big Oly to the wild spirit of the Rippin’ Rooster, and legends like Robby Gordon, Walker Evans, and Ivan Stewart tearing through the desert — Mike's vision has kept the heart of off-road racing pounding. 💥🔥

Mike Pearlman, you didn’t just create *The Happiest Race on Earth* — you made history. 🏅 Congratulations on this incredible achievement! 👏

Show opens Saturday at 8am - 6pm, and Sunday 8am - 4pm at Westworld of Scottsdale.
🧡Casey, Pepe and Scott will be there to answer any questions regarding the upcoming NORRA Mexican 1000. On display will be Mike's K5 Blazer, the Meyers Manx replica #10 - which is 1967 overall winner -, Dustin Davis's Moto with a full Rally Navigation tower, and PJ Jones UTV that won the NORRA 500 in PRO UTV!

Race in Peace Malcolm Smith. 🏁 Thank you for all the great memories!🏆🏁

Malcolm Smith (1941 – 2024), who many consider to be America’s most-renowned and best-loved motorcyclist, has died from complications of Parkinson’s disease, which he battled for more than two decades. He was 83.

Smith passed away at home in Riverside, Calif., on November 26, peacefully and surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife Joyce, daughters Louise and Ashley, sons Joel and Alexander, granddaughters Evie, Adeline, Amelie, Miley and Claire, and grandsons Ethan, Malcolm and Conrad.

In his final year he welcomed his newest grandchildren, Malcolm, Conrad and Claire, and was thrilled to watch his granddaughters learn to ride motorcycles.

During his 83 years, Smith did it all: Rider. Racer. ISDT gold medalist. Shop tech. Service manager. Repair shop owner. Aftermarket distributor. Retail store owner. Actor. Sponsor. Philanthropist. Pro-motorcycling advocate. Father. Grandfather. Friend. And much more.

But over and above all that, Malcolm Smith was everyman’s motorcyclist, an enthusiastic, fun-loving, driven and talented example of what motorcycling could do and be for the everyday enthusiast, and how the sport could affect our lives in unimaginable ways.

Funeral and memorial services are pending. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Malcolm’s favorite charity, the Malcolm Smith Motorsports Foundation, which supports the children of Baja.

More than decade ago. Malcolm Smith wrote these words for the final chapter of his acclaimed 2015 autobiography: “It all started for me on March 9, 1941, in a small rural hospital in the village of Ganges, on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada… “Where it will end, no one knows. But you can be sure I’m going to enjoy every minute I have left, with a smile on my face, and my family nearby. Can’t ask for more than that.”

You can’t, and he didn’t…and the world’s motorcycling fans are better for it.

Mike Pearlman and Jimmy Lewis To Be Inducted into ORMHOF

NORRA will be honoring two of their own at the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame Induction & Awards Gala honoring the ORMHOF Class of 2024. Second generation NORRA founder Mike Pearlman and Motorcycle Race Director Jimmy Lewis will be inducted this year. They both have a lifetime of dedication to the off road community.

Mike Pearlman was there in the very beginning back in 1967. He created the name for the new sport; off road racing. In 2010, Mike and Race Director Eliseo Garcia restructured NORRA into the organization it is today; expanding on an already impressive legacy. Jimmy Lewis took his riding skills to the pinnacle of international rally competition. He then focused his talents on sharing those skills with the next generation of athletes who compete on the world stage. As Motorcycle Race Director for NORRA, Jimmy is helping to bring even more people into the sport and provide competition and training at the highest level. NORRA could not be prouder of Mike and Jimmy who will join NORRA’s Ed Pearlman, Don Francisco, Robby Gordon and Bill Savage in The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame.

NORRA has always Honored the Past while Forging the Future. Ed Pearlman created ORMHOF in 1978 when he inducted 16 pioneers of the sport such as Parnelli Jones, Steve McQueen, Dick Cepek, Bruce Meyers, Drino Miller, Bill Stroppe, Malcolm Smith, Don Francisco and several others who made great contributions to off road racing. The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame is funded by members, partners, and donors, who support the Hall of Fame’s mission to educate and inspire present and future generations of the off-road community by celebrating the achievements of those who came before.

The induction ceremony will be held at the South Point in Las Vegas on the Sunday before The SEMA Show, November 3rd. A limited number of tickets are still available. For more information visit the Hall of Fame website. Legends live at ormhof.org.
