Today's Unsolicitated Wedding Planning Tip:

You know how you walk into a bridal shop and tell the sales associate how much you want to spend on your dress so they can show you what your options are? That's the same thing you need to do with whomever is in charge of planning your wedding. Those people are your spouse, your planner/coordinator and whomever is paying for everything. If you tell the key players then they can help you define what AFFORDABLE, REASONABLE AND AN ARM AND LEG mean for your wedding. They can then send you recommendations for the perfect vendors to match your style, tastes, vision and WALLET.

Dear newly engaged couple's,

Whatever you do PLEASE do not lie to venues and vendors about your event. Calling it an anniversary, party or whatever WILL NOT change the price of your celebration. There is a reason you need to disclose that it's a wedding...EXPECTATIONS. On your fake party day I guarantee you that you will lose your marbles if I show up in a white blouse or the dressing room is unavailable to your 10 best friends or I never spoke with your Officiant and now he's M.I.A and the officiants I would have had on standby are unavailable. 🤦🏾‍♀️

SOME weddings cost more than birthday parties because of the items you decide you must have. For example how many of you throw birthday parties with 200 guests being served 3 plated courses, party favors, save the dates plus invitations, choreographed private dances in public settings, dressing rooms for 20 of your closest friends in 3 separate locations? Let's be realistic here.

So a word of advice, if while researching a venue or vendor you decide to say party and get a lower quote than what weddings are advertised on their website...ask yourself and thst vendor what is NOT being included in that price. Trust me you will get exactly what you pay for.

Okay one more bit of knowledge. Experienced coordinators and planners can send you to venues and vendors that operate with integrity and will give you what you are looking for. Every single event has a budget. If you have a lower budget you need to tell your coordinator and allow them to offer you realistic solutions. 😉

Dear newly engaged couples,

Congratulations! As you begin planning your wedding please note that the congregation has agreed that we are not allowing you to hold your guests hostage until 1am this year. They paid for flights to get there, brought gifts, gave you some love and attention, took pictures, dodged your drunken relative four times, whatched as you gave your spouse a private dance in public and stood in line at your buffet for an hour. Let those people go home at a decent hour. Go be with your new spouse. Get some rest before you miss you honeymoon flights you booked for 6am the next day.

This weekend was super busy...
8 Twelve Creative rocked a rental job on Thursday.

My favorite Assistants rocked a wedding for another Planner while I assist one my friends and colleagues with her clients wedding on Friday.

My circle came together to help 8Twelve Creative complete a balloon job Saturday morning while I (Soirees by Lee) prepared to Officiate a Wedding Saturday evening.

Yes, 4 events this past week and we nailed every single one of them. I'm proud, honored and TIRED. So, while these linens are being laundered and the table decor is being washed I'll enjoy a quick Netflix and Nap session because tomorrow we are back at it with venue tours and design planning.
