My roses are gearing up for their second flush, the dahlias are just beginning to open and all the annuals are full of color.
So much hard work and dedication goes into growing flowers. These are the months when it all seems worth the sacrifice! ā„ļøš„°

The gray skies are clearing and peak flower season has begun.
Spring time at WVFC is a lot of work. Planting, digging and amending soil seem to be the biggest jobs as a small scale grower.
I am so grateful for these late Winter, early Spring design projects though! ā¤ļø

My family and I just returned from a spectacular Spring break in Arizona.
Our oldest is 16 now and I am becoming very aware that these vacations together will be more difficult to schedule in another year, or so.
Kids grow up too fast! š
We did lots of hiking, exploring and basketball watching! Arizona is BEAUTIFUL this time of year!
I tell you all this because it gives me a chance to show off my husband and kids š.

I wanted to let all of my amazing dahlia customers know that I am back to packing up and shipping tuber orders this week.
If you have not already received your tuber order then you should receive your purchase by the end of next week.
All orders will be shipped by Monday, the 15th.
You will received an email with your tracking number as soon as your label is printed.
If you requested local pick up, then I will be sending an email out early next week with some dates and times that I am available to meet you, or have you swing by to pick up your order.

Iām starting my sweet pea seeds today and longing for Spring flowers!
Winter isnāt my favorite season, yet itās such an important time of year in the garden cycle.
The ground rests and we starts seeds, make planting plans, and buy dahlia tubersā¦.in my case, lots and lots and lots of dahlia tubers! šš
Letās talk color!
I love the soft white and neutral tones that so many brides gravitate toward. You can never go wrong with classic, neutral wedding palettes.
Every year I get at least one bride that wants a bold and bright color palette though. I internally do a little happy jump when I meet these brides.
Creatively speaking, it gives me a chance to play with color, and color is kind of my THING.
I LOVE everything about color in wedding flowers.
It isnāt easy to pair flower colors together because they will change when you arrange with them. If you have a lighter tone underneath it makes the darker bloom above it pop in a different way than if you did the reverse. It can be tricky for the designer, but in the end it should be perfect and look effortless.

My advice to all the colorful brides out there is to
GO FOR IT!!!!!!šš
Just make sure that you have both a floral designer and a photographer that have created weddings in bold tones before.
Let your brightness shine big on your special day! ā„ļø
One of my favorite couples ever!
Some days are just exceptional and this one of them. The couple, the friends, the family, the style, the photographer, the venue, the vendors. It was like a dream team!

I donāt usually like āfavoritesā.
It is hard for me to choose a favorite ANYTHING.
I donāt have a fave color, book, child or flower! š
With that said, I do have a list of favorite dahlias that I grow.
I canāt choose one, or even ten, but I do have some that are just perfect to work with and some that arenāt. Usually, if a dahlia is difficult to work with, than I canāt grow it! NO DIVAS ALLOWED!
Still, I have truly LOVED the Cafe au Lait dahlia for years.
Sheās a bit of a pain to work with, but she has exquisite, warm, buff-blush color and these ruffly, romantic petals.
CAL is pretty, but is lacking so much when it comes to floral design. She has HORRIBLE vase life, is prone to bruising and has weak stems and a weak joint where the bloom meets the stem. Not great problems when doing wedding work! So, Iāve been looking for a replacement.
In 2023 I grew KAās Mocha Maya for the first time.
WOW WOW WOW!!!
Mocha Maya shines everywhere that CAL fails.ļæ¼
She has that same warm blush, romantic feel that I need, the ruffly romantic petals, incredible vase life (7 days), she doesnāt bruise and wrinkle and her stems are about as long and strong as Iāve seen in a dahlia.
Sheās becoming (shall I say it??š³) a FAVORITE!!!
I donāt think that I will ever grow CAL again, and I honestly wonāt miss it.
KAās Mocha Maya has stolen my heart!

Speaking of romance, this entire wedding day was full of it. Such a special couple and this incredible home was the perfect backdrop for this family.

2023 was such an incredible year of growth for me!
I took a great big step back and deeply reflected on what it is about flowers that calls to me. What do I love and not love about working with blooms and weddings.
I had to ask myself really deep and heavy questions. And I had to be truthful with myself. Thatās not always easy yāall! But itās necessary at times and this was one of those times.
So I asked myself:
āAm I cut out to be a business owner?ā
āWho are the people in my life and in my business that I can really count on? The ones who get me and respect me and appreciate my giving nature but donāt take advantage of it?
Who isnāt afraid to work hard and who knows that hard work leads to success?
Who lifts me up and makes me better and who do I do the same for?ā
āAm I a talented enough artist and designer to really do justice to a brideās vision?ā
āCan I do what Iām passionate about and still not miss out on enjoying the Summer with my husband and my kids?ā
āCan I successfully add being a small scale grower to my job title and not burn myself out?ā
āHave I been too hurt by past experiences in the floral design business to move passed the heartbreak and find my that passion again?ā
SO, it was a heavy year, but an IMPORTANT and INCREDIBLE year. I found the answers I was looking for and in the end I rediscovered my passion!
2023 brought me 5 beautiful and unique brides.
As the year progressed, I felt a little more at peace and regained a little more of that Sarah Lin spark.
By the end of the year I was sure in my decision and EXCITED about whatās to come in 2024!
SO, CHEERS to you, my beautiful and devoted followers! Thank you for your support, encouragement and whole hearted belief in me and my talent. You are so appreciated!

The dahlia blooms are starting to open on my home field and my roses are beginning their second flush!
The big farm that I help with has been in full bloom for a while, but my home field is where the special ones, and my work horses are planted. Another week and everything will be blooming!
Every evening before I get dinner going for my family, I walk around my flowers, sometimes with a glass of wine in hand, and just enjoy their beauty! Itās my favorite part of a summer day! ā¤ļø
I met this stunning bride when she was seven years old. She and her beautiful family moved in, just a few houses down from us, when my son, Grant, was six months old.
We became fast friends with the Morris family and fell in love with every one of them.
Itās been a privilege to watch Olivia and her older sister Taylor grow up. These are special young women. The strength and grace that they radiated when their mama, my dear friend Maria, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly last year was truly remarkable.
I had so much fun creating flowers for this special day. A few sneak peeks and photos from my phone that I had to share! More to come in a few weeks!

Last week was Dia de los Mu***os which is an intensely meaningful celebration honoring our loved ones who have passed, but forever live on in our hearts. This fabulous couple centered their entire wedding celebration around Dia de los Mu***os and it was one of the most dramatic, creative and intimate weddings that we have e we designed!
