It's hard work running a Wellness Retreat, an overcapacity wildlife shelter, while raising a young family and still being a great physio.

So for Jill's 50th, we gave her an RDO from all formal responsibilities, phone and emails. Highlights included:

1. A sleep in (except where we woke her up to ask where Molly's laptop was - which was in the middle of the kitchen table, exactly where Molly had left it).

2. Her first day off in ... we're not sure? (Except for the 7 hours of bottle feeding & toileting of the 14 little, little roos. No one tickles a cloaca or wakes up for 3 hourly feeds quite like she does).

4. A chance to go to the bathroom & brush her hair (she seemed to like this!).

5. A wild party featuring moscato, subway wraps and a Woolies cake, out at our new release site (see pics)

6. A curated Kmart collection consisting of: 5 pack of un**es, a smelly candle (to cover l'eau de roo) and some jewellery trays so she stops losing her rings every time she a) does retreat cooking b) takes a yoga class c) toilets kangaroos d) generally takes them off and leaves them in odd places. In other words, everything a 50-year-old woman needs to survive in the wild.

7. And the 'pièce de résistance', an intertwined Tiffany's silver ring. Symbolising how much we love her (and can't function without her?).

We can confirm that a good time was had by all. If anyone wants to borrow our template for successful 50th birthday celebrations, just get in touch ...

Happy birthday Jill. We love you lots.

Many of you may have noticed that our social media posting runs in droughts and floods (how very Benalla of us!)

So don't be offended if you have suddenly seen a flurry of sponsored ads from us (yes we did them ourselves - you can tell by the typos and mismatched fonts 🤣). With a huge couple of weeks ahead of us - we're trying to get the word out Australia-wide, to people looking for a no woo-woo getaway to boost their mojo, recharge their batteries and get emotionally prepared for the silly season that's closing in so quickly.

Plus, we would love people to join us on our new project: The 7 Day Wellness, Wildlife & Yoga: Feel Good Retreat. It combines all the things that we care most about into one incredible experience - An experience that we can guarantee you will not find anywhere else.

Don't have a whole week to escape your unique madhouse? There's always the Weekend Wellness Reboot. They're so good you'll be planning your next trip before you leave...

But for those of you wonderful folk who've stayed with us before. We'd love it if you could help us spread the word - helping us on our mission(s) to make people feel good, and rescue, rehabilitate and release native Australian wildlife throughout NorthEast Victoria.

Because let's face it: between the Spring silly season for randy adults and fresh out of the pouch bubbas (like Boris, illustrated in photo above 🫶 Just ignore the crazy woman with purple hair.) and our regular lack of reliable internet services, it will probably be another month before we get online again! We really do suck at marketing. Who knows - one day we might even get a newsletter out?! It's on the very long 'to do' list ...

Luckily, we're much better at making people feel great ☺ If that's what you need, come along for a visit. All the details @ littlefarmofcalm.com

Welcome to Little Farm of Calm: 7-Day Feel Good, Do Good Retreats. This isn't a woo-woo wonderland. It's a no-nonsense, evidence-based reset for your brain and body. Guaranteed to leave you feeling good.

The Little Farm Difference: No Twatwaffle, Just Results.
We're cutting through the BS to give you what actually works. Our retreats are about real value and tangible benefits, not fluffy promises. Here’s what you get:

Real Wellness Techniques: We skip the crystals and focus on practices proven to work. Think massage, float tank and red light therapy that actually calms you down, a schedule full of activities to quiet your mind, and movement that makes you feel strong and capable—all backed by science, not spiritual fluff.

Delicious Food, Not Deprivation: Hearty meals that are healthy, delicious, and leave you feeling energized, not starved. Because a retreat should feel like a reward, not a punishment. Plus we have great coffee, mulled wine and/or delicious teas to be enjoyed.

Get Your Hands Dirty: Escape the screen and get into something real. Whether it's a workshop, a scenic hike, or just a good book by the fire pit, helping you rediscover your sense of purpose and adventure.

Animal Therapy (The Good Kind): Our animals are here to remind you what genuine, uncomplicated joy feels like. Pet a goat, snuggle a pig, and feel your stress melt away. It's the kind of therapy that's scientifically proven to boost your mood, and it's way more effective than staring at a vision board.

Craving a deeper experience with animals? Take the option to volunteer at Wildside Wildlife Shelter - tasks include helping bottle feed the joeys and projects to help get our native wildlife back out into the wild. But not so much as to interrupt your feel-good wellness experience - only making it better than ever (and only if that's your jam).

Ready for a real break? One that guarantees you'll feel better without sharing circles, detox diets or shared bathrooms?

And as always with an LFOC retreat, everything is optional. Do as little or as much as you feel is right for you.

Book your spot on a 7-Day Feel Good, Do Good Retreat now. Spots are limited, so don’t wait too long!

The last of our Winter Warmer Weekends is booked out, as we turn our faces towards the sun and head into spring with summer hot on its heels. FFS. Christmas will be here in no time 😟

We've been blown away by the response to our 7 Day Feel Good, Do Good Retreats. But I guess what's not to love ...

*7 Days / 6 Nights of immersing yourself in non-stop, evidence-based wellness.
*Plenty of time to play, relax, sleep in, get out and explore the region or just try new things.
*Great value - if you've been thinking about a weekend with us, get 3 times all that plus more
* So many inclusions that we don't want to bore you ... possibly the most of any retreat we've seen in Australia (and we don't say that lightly)

Plus - should you choose to opt in, you can volunteer at the onsite Wildlife Shelter to learn, experience and help us in all the aspects of caring for our amazing native wildlife.

So whether you just want the wellness, or you want the boots and all experience - we guarantee that you will leave us feeling wildly refreshed having had an experience like no other.

PS. We had a rare, human free weekend ... and here's what it looked like!

There's a problem with making a co-parenting deal with the Devil 😈

When Satan (the big wombat) is caring for Izzy (the little wombat), we don't get to go stare at our phones while sitting on the toilet 🚽

(Don't judge - isn't that what every tired, overworked, parent of young children does?) 🤣

Despite being an angel 🙌 whenever the camera's out: When Satan is supervising Izzy - someone has to be supervising Satan. Or you never know what might happen ... 🎭

That being said, we're so proud of our little man. If he had a pouch he'd be the perfect wombat Manny.

What's better than some wombats? More wombats ... Though this statement is highly debatable, depending on how much you value sleep, having 10 intact fingers, and your chances of ever retiring.

Just another standard night at Little Farm of Calm:

Jill was sitting on the nature strip with Wombat 2 (Aka Satan) for some exercise and grass time @ 10:30pm. She is wearing 3 jumpers, two pairs of pants, a beanie and a dressing gown over the top. It is cold, but at least the beanie makes her look classy...

A ute slowed down and pulled into the driveway. She thought they were just curious about the strange woman sitting on curb with a wombat 🤔

But a lovely lady gets out of ute with a wriggling bundle wrapped in a jumper. Oh-oh. Wombat, Roo or Possum? (Spoiler: it's a wombat joey who was in the pouch when mum was hit by a car)

Jill transitions new wombat bubs into her dressing gown and manages a vaguely coherent conversation - explaining that wombat will be raised in care and transitioned back into the wild. All while Satan is viciously biting her ankles and calves. He does not like this interruption to his private time 🤬

Darren makes a timely appears at gate with a donut pet bed in his arms, at the same time as text to Jill's phone appears, telling her that there is a wombat joey incoming 🙄

Jill promptly gets attacked by Rooben 🦘, our resident big boy & butt head as she's bring the wombats in. He very helpfully rips through three layers of clothing and skin disabling her legs quite effectively. In his defence, he doesn't like people carrying donut beds. Or wombats. He's actually a bit scared of wombats. So if you ever think about breaking into our property while carrying a donut bed and a wombat, he'll be an excellent guard roo ... (Rooben is being released *very* soon btw).

Having valiantly defended Jill with his self defence skills, Darren whisks wombats to safety. Actually Satan took himself back to his 'burrow' (aka what once was the office). Way too much drama for him.

Jill is told to 'put some betadine and paw paw ointment on her wounds' which she declines to do while continuing to bleed on the floor (spoiler: she didn't die and was walking just fine by two days later, although she still complains every time she has to sit down).

New wombat is a 2.5kg girl named Izzy. She is feisty as **** and very shaken by her ordeal. She is big enough to know that she's a wombat, people are scary and she doesn't want a f*cking bottle shoved in her mouth ... we're working hard on that last part as it's kind of important!

What she *loves* is Satan. Which is not ideal and not supposed to have happened as he is much bigger than her ( but fyi, they are amazing escape artists, especially when newly in care).

Satan has so far been incredibly gentle and tolerant of Izzy. Who would have thought ... while we cannot allow them to room together in case he gets too rough (he's a teenage boy and fond of a playful nip), we are now letting them have supervised play time together as it seems to have helped no end in bringing Izzy's stress levels down and helping her transition into her new life in care.

And it will be a long road - if Izzy makes it, she will spend the better part of 2 years with us in various living arrangements as she learns how to be a wombat and one day get ready to transition back into the wild.

And that's the point of everything we do here. Getting them back where they belong.

You do you. We'll take care of the rest (unless you wanna volunteer to help bottle feed the babies! We could always use a hand at feeding times 🦘🍼).
