If you're in NYC next weekend, and want a show to go to, I have one to recommend. I wish I could be out there for it!
Years ago, living in NYC, great photo opps often appeared right next to you.
I most always had 35mm point/shoot camera in a belt holster, to quick draw for just these kind of moments. (It was pre-camera-phone era)
That's how I met the very talented .... sitting next to me .... each of us on our way to our wherevers - one of those organic moments of tableau vivant that seem to just happen in high-population crossroads like NYC.
On Kaori's later visits to NYC, we got together to snap a few shots here and there.
Since then, she has had a very fine career, based in France, as dancer, choreographer, owner of her own dance studio, and most recently as the director of .
She recently told me she'll be back in NYC this next week, to perform the traditional Japanese story, "The Silk Drum", at The on Oct. 24 and Oct. 25.
So, a good excuse for me to dust off some of these shots from the archives (circa 2001), and share 'em with ya.
Let me know if you make it to the show!
