“North by Northwest”
Hey all!
Tonight, Wednesday, June 28, 6:00PM at the Alibi in Truckee!
From what I hear, these things are fun, and it’s a dress funky kind of affair for those that want to do that, but not necessary.
It’s a fundraiser for Moonshine Ink, and, of course, we’re hopeful to see people there!
I think there will be raffles and prizes and things like that.
And, obviously in recognition of my lifetime of great fashion sense, I’ve been appointed to the panel of costume contest judges. So there’s that :)
If you’re looking for something fun to do this evening, there’s this!
Needs title.
I’ve been working for the last year as staff photographer for an amazing local independent newspaper/magazine, Moonshine Ink
In celebration of that, I’ll share here, and in future posts, some of my work that I’ve gotten to do with my very creative and smart co-workers.
I screwed up on this post's images, so go to the link below to see better versions!

Here’s part 1, with more to come. Stay tuned :-)

Happy solstice. That day sure went fast. And now here comes the sun.
Happy winter!
Happy Halloween, from my local haunts to yours.
Oops.
Happy Halloween Eve Day!

Here’s a 9-minute public information video that I shot interviews and b-roll for this summer, released a couple of days ago, about good some people helping others in need.
I brought on to edit it, and she did an amazing job editing, as well as co- directing/producing with Kevin Johnson of New Way Media.

Meanwhile…up in the mountains , it has begun.
For those of you who knew Kip of Voltaire, who was so nicely represented by Alyssa at , or ever got one of his signs, he passed away a month or so ago.
If you’re in OB today, and want to swing by there, there is a memorial and a raffle of his remaining signs at the between 3:30pm and 8:00pm.
Kip, along with Jim Bell who passed away in recent years, and Colleen Dietzel, are three of the long-standing positive proactive souls of Ocean Beach. Colleen runs the Ocean Beach Green Center and Kip used to paint and sell his signs made from scrap wood on the sidewalk in front of there on Voltaire street underneath trees he helped plant decades ago.
Definitely some of my favorite San Diego people from over the years.
If anybody would like to make prints out of these pictures I’ve posted here, I’d be glad to let you have them in exchange for a donation to either the Green Center, or the Kip of Voltaire Memorial Fund that Colleen told me will be used for tree planting and a memorial bench and/or plaque. If interested, PM/DM me.
All the best to us all in cultivating our gardens :)
Meanwhile, on the last day of summer, somewhere in the low valley sun… The air was getting warm, the beer was getting flat, the sun was beating down…
Lots more video and photos of this amazing Ukrainian pilot and person from today at the Tahoe Truckee airshow, flying her blue and yellow airplane, interviewing and behind the scenes.

El vivo tranquilo. Vientos huricanados.
There is a LOT of stuff brought way up high that has to be maintained. (click photo for more)
And lot of people glad to wait for it to run.
And coyotes aren’t afraid of all that stuff and people.
For those who appreciate vintage Tahoe or casinos. This will soon be a memory.
The sun will set on more than seven decades of history at the Tahoe Biltmore at the end of April; but first, one last hurrah is planned for April 23.

Shots from last weekend's awesome annual The Great Ski Race , in support of Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue Team Inc , hosted by Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area , as seen in Moonshine Ink .
What an amazing effort by many volunteers!
We have many more pictures of racers on the course. If you might be in them, message me direct if you'd like a copy.

Sierra moonrise.
Last looks for the year at the mighty and delicate - the yearly affirmation in the Sierras, emerging through the snow, that spring has officially sprung.
Now that the snow is mostly gone, and summer is about to burst upon us, the snow flowers are soon gone.
With no chlorophyll for photosynthesizing nutrients to eat, this hopeless romantic relies on the support of underground mycelia, which bring it food from tree roots.
Wow.
In exchange, it offers a blast of vibrancy and hope to the forests and those who pass through it, if only for a few fleeting moments.
Thank you, Mother Nature.

Cool to see neighbors shooting vids:-) They said the artist's name was something like "Taylor Fo". If you know where to find him online, share this with him, or pass me his info. I have more behind the scenes videos and production stills I snapped, that I'll be glad to give him :-) RAZA SD CC
Right here in San Diego is one of only two women in the world who do traditional Polynesian hand-tap tattooing, and here's some camera-phone video of one of them, Su'a Sulu'ape Angela, over at Big City Tattoo, Inc. We're looking to do a documentary on her and the other female hand-tap artist - a 95 year old woman living in the hills of The Philippines. Because of her age, time is of the essence with this topic! Would you be interested in supporting this documentary if we sought crowdfunding through Kickstarter or otherwise? Let me know what you think! Please Like this post, and Share it to your Timeline or with other people, if you would like to see this documentary happen!
Here's a nice video I just came across in my hard drive, that I thought worth sharing here. I shot it in 2 days of wandering through NYC a few years ago. See if you can find a very brief cameo of someone you recognize, and comment about who and where it is if you find it! CINEMATOGRAPHER: Ted Coakley DIRECTOR/EDITOR: Joshua Ferg CLIENT: L.I.F.E.
