THE GROOVE ZONE (Olympia WA) is a collective of DJs, musicians, performers and artists based in Olympia, WA in the U.S. It was created in December 1989 by three friends as a performance troupe for local events and productions. It has transitioned throughout the decades to become a banner for various productions in the South Puget Sound area of Washington (state), inspired heavily by the alternative music genres.
THE GROOVE ZONE's NEO RETRO FM (Olympia WA) was an online radio project, based in Olympia, WA (home of grunge and Riot Grrrls) that streamed LIVE daily from June 1, 2020 to March 6, 2021. The project was brought to a close shortly after one of the station's featured artists, the 31 year-old rapper Quasar Starr aka Dominick Travers, was found dead in a motel room in Tacoma, WA.
The project's completion date preempted the second season's scheduled run, due to the unfortunate events of February 2021.
