Cherry Burton Arts are hosting a special event to help boost funds for the Village Hall. The music evening on FRIDAY 3 NOVEMBER 7.30pm will feature no less than FOUR local bands that have their roots in Cherry Burton- the small village just north of Beverley. There will be sets from Strawberry Moon, STRAWBERRY MOON, MIDNIGHT FLYERS, CHERRY BURTONES and THE BAY HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE.

The event has been described as a ‘glorious entertaining mixture of songs, tunes and styles from four very different local acts all with Cherry Burton connections-most of the musicians live there! The first ‘Hall Together Now’ event took place in February 2020 just before lockdown which proved very popular and raised much needed funding for the hall upkeep. That night concluded with a grand finale with all the musicians and singers onstage belting out The Beatles song ‘All Together Now’. This year, it is hoped a rendition of The Farm’s hit ‘All Together Now’ will finish the evening with everyone on stage once again.
From the unaccompanied barber-shop style vocals of the Cherry Burtones, through the great songs and playing of Midnight Flyers, and Strawberry Moon plus the eclectic mix of material from The Bay Horsemen of the Apocalypse-this should be a great night from start to finish.
Attenders can bring their own drinks and glasses, and there will be a raffle to help boost the cause.
Cherry Burton Arts organiser Martin Peirson added “We have some wonderful arts events in the hall- and to have another night to support the ongoing fundraising appeal seemed like a good idea-especially involving these home-grown acts! We have plans to improve accessibility to the hall which doesn’t come cheap so we are very grateful for these musicians giving their precious weekend time to help out!”

What a great night we had with Midnight Flyers last weekend- Arts Centres and venues should be booking them whist they can! Thanks to the guys for an evening crammed full of great songs all sounding as you’d expect. During the evening we were also able to announce that the band have agreed to return for our fundraising ‘Hall Together Now #2’ event on Friday 3 November 7.30pm- so another chance to catch them!

If you are coming to the Midnight Flyers show tonight in Cherry Burton, you will notice that the village is in a bit of a pickle with a road closure part way along Main Street. You can still get into the village of course, but if coming from the Malton Road direction, you are best turning into Canada Drive and following that road around-it comes out opposite the village hall! Please be careful when parking so as not to block drives and leave space for larger vehicles to pass through.
