I have been really thinking this over. Tomorrow Jamal Steward and I are going to be working at a wedding. Let me tell you, I have watched Jamal Steward work - and if there was ever a veteran that I felt intimidated by - it would be JC.
I get it when some veterans say that I make them feel uncomfortable. When you are around someone who knows exactly what to do and when to do it - it is kinda of like me being back in school again.
Let's put it this way - I have done weddings for over 30 years. (Photography, videography).. I have never done a DJ at a wedding, that's why I got a specialist in the field. Watching him coordinate with the Bride/Groom to be blew my mind on how everything is going to work out.
Which leads me to this statement I have come to realize as FACT. YOU can be intimidated by someone who knows more about a certain field OR you can humble yourself to learn. I choose the latter. I accept that no matter what field I am in, there is always something to learn. ( As I have always said - I am just a white belt that never gave up)..
So if you are around a person who is advanced more than you in the field you are interested in - take notes, watch, listen and learn. It will only improve what you do. Don't feel intimidate, or feel inferior NOT when they are trying to help you.
