If you redlinin’… you ain’t headlinin’🙅🏼‍♀️

Let’s explain why… a little sound engineering lesson won’t go a miss 📖

Believe it or not, clubs employ highly skilled sound techs for a reason. This is to protect the sound system and ensure your music is played at the best quality, the way the producer intended it to be.

When you whack the master up past the green lights, all you end up doing is clipping the sound. There are limiters set up by sound techs to avoid too much power going through the speakers and causing costly damage to their beloved systems. Essentially, louder on the mixer = less sound quality.

We don’t know about you, but that’s not the kind of energy we want in 2024…

Allow us to break it down:

🟢 - the golden zone, music being played is as close to the original quality as possible.

🟠 - amber zone, you’ve gone beyond the loudest point, any extra volume is in the form of distortion.

🔴 - the no go zone, you’ve entered sound distortion territory, stay away!

We take immense pride in the soundsystem in our venue and making sure the sound quality is absolutely perfect (in case it’s not obvious) 🫣

Like most good sound engineers, we spend hours behind the scenes making sure that it’s loud enough in every corner of the room, and we don’t mean this lightly…if you’ve ever been to our venue then you know as soon as you step in, you get swept off your feet by loudness AND quality, and we intend to keep it this way.

Protect the sound systems, keep the sound engineers happy & protect the quality of the music. Oh, and wear earplugs ✌🏼

When you see the linkups on the continent the decks are set back from the system facing towards it, where as here the decks are generally set behind the rig or to the side of it. Personally I have always wanted to try setting up like that.
I get there are delays on the main system, but often (especially indoors) in the DJ booth you are hearing the rig and the monitors to the point that even a single track is traintracking.
From a DJs perspective I would much rather hear my set through the soundsystem than in a DJ booth, but thats just my opinion. What do other people recon?
