Delegates Mike Edelson and Jake Norwood are honored to announce the competitors representing North America (US, Canada, Mexico) in the Cultural Exhibition Tournament at the 2019 European Games in Minsk, Belarus this June. Because of the size of our region holding try-outs or qualifiers was unreasonable. Instead we relied on fighters with stand-out reputations and performance records in and out of HEMA competitions over the last several years. We consulted with respected instructors and competitors in each region while compiling a list of almost two dozen fencers who we invited to apply.
The 10 applicants chosen represent a broad cross-section of North American competitive HEMA. Team Nordic kindly sponsored an 11th position for the North American Team and provided an opportunity for us to get one of our fencers into the Rapier and Dagger competition. Finally, a short list of five alternates rounds out our selections, in the event that any of our 11 competitors drops out between now and June.
Please join us in congratulating and supporting our North American Team in the 2019 European Games:
