Chicharra Poetry Slam Festival

One of the things that made the inaugural 2024 Chicharra Poetry Slam Festival such a great experience was our volunteers. We were very fortunate to have an incredible group of folks who committed time and passion to the festival, and we heard so many kind words from the poets about your impact, so thank you all, first of all!

Now, we are calling out once more for folks to help us maintain that spirit of community!

If you would like to be a volunteer at the 2025 Festival, (March 20-22) we need you.

There are some cool perks for volunteers, and the more of you we have available, the more we can achieve. Plus, you can volunteer as little or as much as you are able, so if you are interested, please DM me or comment below!

Ok, it's official ~ team & individual registration for the 2025 Chicharra Poetry Slam Festival opens October 15! (ten days from now!)

We have some truly awesome things in store for you, and a couple of surprises that we aren't allowed to announce yet, but trust me, its gonna be fire! And we will have a little something extra for our Indie winner this year too, just sayin'...

Hard to believe we're already here, lol, but we will be opening registration near the end of this month!

We wanna be sure we give all our individual competitors and teams time to register and start planning, especially if you plan to use the Pay-Over-Time Option, so we're gonna open it up in just a few short weeks!

So keep an eye on the page, and our Insta because lots of new announcements will be starting to pop up and we are planning some very, very cool things for y'all!

Y'all, we got $50 for our poetry slam winner (will it be you?) AND the icon himself, Moody Black!

This is a great chance to get some practice and start getting ready for next year's festival...maybe even try out those new pieces!

And you'll wanna be ready cause in March 2025, the Chicharra will rise!

I have no desire to judge, but honestly, if someone needs to explain to you why hating another human being because they are not "acceptable" (i.e. like you) in some fashion, then you and I have nothing else to say to one another.

And no, your faith is not an excuse. I am a person of faith too, and my faith tells me to love everyone. We can disagree on many things and be cool, but I do not stand for hatred or those who perpetuate it.
