My name is Emily Gilliam and I am the Event Designer of Designed Splendor. I had a beautiful daughter in 2020 and between her and CoVid, I took a small step back emphatically seeking out clients, but I am available for hire! Especially now that events and weddings are making a come back! It has been my dream to have my own Event business. I have always loved to help people, have an eye for design,

and have a natural skill for organization and keeping things on schedule- so weddings and events were the perfect way to utilize my skills! I have a Bachelors in Communication and New Media studies from Mount St. My focus was event planning and I was an intern in the MSJ alumni office where I helped coordinate fundraisers and school events. I worked at Dayton History over 2 years as an Event Captain setting up all kinds of exciting events and beautiful weddings. With my own business I’ve worked on several weddings and am excited to help others design and see their event visions come to life. My favorite part of this work is knowing that at the end of the day, I helped make your event possible and that you got to enjoy it worry free!

Our Story

Welcome! My name is Emily and I am the Head Event Designer of Designed Splendor! I have been working in Events for over 5 years with experience doing corporate, fundraising, social events and of course weddings! It has been my dream to have my own event business since I was in High school. It all started out with my enjoyment in helping people and so I knew my future career would be in customer service somehow. Over time I realized that with a natural skill for organization and my eye for details, that wedding and events consultation would be a perfect fit to help guide those during what can be an overwhelming and/or stressful time! I began my journey at Sinclair where I got my Associates in Communication with a emphasis in Public Relations, then I went on to Mount St. Joseph University (MSJ) to get my Bachelors in Communication and New Media Studies with an emphasis in Event Planning. I was an intern in the MSJ alumni office where I helped coordinate fundraisers as well as everything from formal to casual events for the students and alum. I also had the privilege of being the VP of the Student Alumni Association chapter at MSJ and helped to plan, coordinate and design for student and alumni gatherings on and off campus with them as well. For years I worked at Dayton History at Carillon Park where I was an Event Captain and got to help set up and keep timelines on schedule for events at their various venues! I wanted to be able to do more and that’s why I set out on my own to offer more of myself to those who need it! For my business, I decided that while packages help give one an idea of what they can get, really any person should be able to create their own package or exclude things they don’t want and also not have to pay for it. So in my packages you’ll see that all the pricing varies depending on the services you choose because I want them to be more affordable and accessible to all couples.

My favorite part of this work is knowing that at the end of the day, I helped make your event possible and that you got to enjoy it a little more worry free because we worked together!
