Siblings.
This tiny little boy with his big sister has a whole big journey/story about getting here.
And also, apparently big sister was NOT excited about another brother. BUT, ya’all. Look how sweet she is with him!

Ya’all. I’m obsessed with this photo. I love the ring [obviously, LOOK at it!], I love how delicately Casey is holding Hannah’s hand, I love Hannah’s right hand on her chest settling down all the adrenalin. And I often am not a huge fan of the smart watches in portraits, but here I think it’s perfect. I love that it has the time they got engaged [well, just a few minutes before this], and that it’s a fashion trend that wont be around forever, but that dates the photo to this year.
Side note, when I chatted with Casey about the proposal, I mentioned how he might need to enlist her friends to convince her to go get manicures before he proposed, and he laughed and said she’d actually been getting manicures routinely for the last 6 months. In which I replied, “She’s been READY for this proposal!!!” Ha! I love it.

So this summer session was MAGIC. We drove up to New Buffalo, and before the session it had been a bit rainy, so we were all, do we try? Do we not? But ya’all. OMG, I’M SO GLAD WE DID!
This will probably not be the only photo I feature on the grid from this session, because woah. It was so magical.
ALSO, if I were to say, spend a week at the beach, and offer session there next summer, anyone interested in that? Give me a holler!

Hiiya! I've recently befriended Stephen with Haddenhorst Films, and we did a project together! Last week we did baby Archie's newborn session together, so I thought it was a great time to share their family maternity session. I love it. It's so special. Holler if you want to add his film services onto your session!

Happy Juneteenth!
I’m celebrating the day of independence of Black people in the United States with my Black clients and friends today.
In case you don’t know, today we commemorate the end of slavery in the USA. On January 1, 1863, President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation officially declared the end of slavery in the United States.
I’ve linked some awesome Black owned businesses! Check them out! And feel free to add your own shout outs to awesome Black businesses in the comments!

Engagement sessions! I love all my sessions, but engagement sessions are where I feel the most ability to try new things. and .elaine8 tossed in a new prompt here of big steps and kicks and I’m totally going to use it again. Look at those smiles! I love it!

Who saw the eclipse yesterday?! We went low key, and walked over to a school nearby [there were expected to be 100,000 people visiting Indy for the eclipse]. But the weather was perfect, and the experience was so rad, and the friends and family we were with were delightful.

I thought I'd share a favorite photo I took. I knew when folks asked me if I was going to photograph the eclipse, I wasn't going to get photos of JUST the moon. Because quite honestly, there are photographers who are much better at astrophotography than me, and everyone was going to be focusing on the moon itself [much like when you go to a famous museum like the Louvre and everyone is taking photos of the Mona Lisa]. The subject is beautiful and amazing, but I'm more interested in how everyone is interacting with it. I like to document people coming together to experience something together.

I am a bit mad at myself for forgetting the tripod so I could get all my family in the shot with the moon, but all things considered, what a super rad experience, that I hope I get to experience again in my lifetime.
