Remembering Glenn Strange (1899-1973) on his birthday. For much of his career Strange appeared in low budget westerns when one day he was at Universal and at 6'5 the studio thought he might be a good candidate to play the Frankenstein monster in their next film--he turned out to be a perfect fit. Strange played the monster in three films (HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, HOUSE OF DRACULA & ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN). Many people will then also recognize Strange for being "Sam, the bartender" of the Long Branch Saloon on GUNSMOKE from 1960-1973.
