Boomtown calling 📞 ☀️

⛺️ We’re just about to land at one of our fave festivals and we have some news!

Friday 14:00 - 17:00 we’re hosting a takeover at .uk in Camp Orchid!

We’ve pulled together a juicy little programme including our pal 🦛 , originator 🐰 and new friend who runs one of Bristols best 💥

You can expect a lush sunny selection from the three of us starting with Peter Rabbit (14:00) followed by DJ Hippo (15:00), (16:00).

If you’re in Camp Orchid (or good at blagging😉) we’d love to see you❤️

A huge thank you to the .uk crew and 👏🏽It’s gonna be a spectacular year.

☀️ Three weeks ago we celebrated our second birthday (a little early!) 🎂

We were gonna go great big, but after some head scratching we decided that a smaller scale party with a huge spirit was what we craved the most💗

Since our first event in 2023, we’ve held 9 other sold-out events (Now 10😉). This party aimed to round it all up and distill it down into one intimate, hectic session- inviting 9 of our OG’s and you lot to party under one roof, across 5 areas of music!

Without droning on… WHAT A NIGHT! All tickets were sold on the door & within 1h the venue was full and the queue began 🫢

The vibes were absolutely spot-on. I can’t count how many times I saw people hugging- the atmosphere was joyous. It’s moments like these that mean the 🌎 to me!

kicked off the evening in COMPLETE style 🎷 before we moved inside and across the whole space going into the night 🌙 The tunes were awesome, and peole said it felt just like a festival ✅ (always the aim)!

A MASSIVE thank you to corner and .records for being an unbeatable host 🏡, to the lovely for lending us the parrots 🦜 and trees 🌳, to for painting our funky figure magnificently ☀️, to for the creative assistance ⬆️ , to / for being the the best sound engineer (that OHM rig upstairs was nuts!!!) 🔊 , to for the lighting that looked UNREAL upstairs 💡 , to .fisher74 for these amazing shots (check them out!) 📸, to all our exceptional artists- the building blocks of Funky Drummer 🧩 ☀️, to for providing the yummiest Afro-fusion scran🍗, to our fabulous graphics designer based all the way in Mexico City 🇲🇽 and lastly my family & you lovely lot for the incredible support ❤️

See you after the summer or hopefully at a festival!

☀️Introducing Bald Ethos ☀️

Our resident and pal is back in Sheffield to celebrate a series of events that he has played at from day 1, with 5 magical appearances along the way ❤️

He is now Manchester based 📌 and running his own well received parties under .mcr 👀

Expect a journey of salsa, soul, house and the rest in a vinyl and digital set between 11:00 -12:00 in Grub Records.

☀️ Introducing ☀️

Funky Drummer friends and favourite local promoter with whom we collaborated on our notorious Brazil carnival night 🇧🇷 alongside . It is an absolute joy to host this, flying the Phonetics flag between 10:00 & 12:30 in the bar room.

They have been running the show since the early 00’s. Having had everyone from to guest at its original weekly incarnation 🪩

Rebooting over the past years has seen events with guests such as and , combined with regular DJ appearances across the city and at festivals like ⛺️ We cannot wait for them to bring a dance floor loaded selection of broken beat heat. This is their third time joining us!

☀️Introducing a Peter Play ☀️

Just the other week, I saw .play.uk play a serene chillout set 🕯️ in Hagglers Courtyard - it sparked an idea: a cozy space with ambient lighting, comfy sofas, and a soundtrack by the man himself. As the newest addition to Funky Drummer, we’re thrilled to welcome Peter and his soothing presence.

Peter Play has been around the block. He started his musical life on the decks 💿 and microphones 🎤 of the London reggae soundsystems of yesteryear.

When he moved to Brighton he mainly entertained folks at house parties. By the time he hit Sheffield it was the millennium and he had discovered downtempo. He used a number of aliases (DJ Z-Man, DJ BluSkize) to play gorgeous mellow-out stuff at obscure sessions including ‘Café Chill’, ‘The Indigo Experience’, ‘Downtempo Sundays’ and more. Always on the down-low, he’s also been in various bands, released the odd track and rubbed musical shoulders with the great & good of the city.

☀️ Introducing Peter Rabbit ☀️

The Funky Drummer party starter. If you’ve been to one of our events, you will have seen him in acton 🐰 Often joined by a collective of musicians, his DJ sets are packed with energy and directed towards the dance floor 🥁

Expect afro-latin house, broken-beat, global bass and jungle in a two hour DJ set that will go up and down the tempos. Who knows if he‘ll be bringing a guest or two ;)?

10:00-12:00 in the attic ⏰

You may also know him as co-founding member of BassOff events 🔊 with whom he has supported and hosted some of the greatest names in rave music like , and ;)!

☀️ Introducing Jodie Tyler ☀️

From Manchester but based in Sheffield📌, Jodie took to the mixer to channel her love for tunes with a funk and groove 🌸. She’s played nationwide at venues including Tola in London and a HomeBassUK pop-up, and most recently she supported & at X 🪩

She’s become a hit at Funky Drummer, making two appearances supporting K.O.G and our heavy Brazilian themed lineup🇧🇷

One of Jodies’ main aims as a DJ is to get you moving and smiling- an essential for Funky Drummer ☀️ Jodie is playing from 02:00-03:00 in the bar room with a late night selection of the funkiest house and disco. We’re so pleased to have her back for our summer celebration 🎉

We are gassed to introduce a Funky Drummer regular! This is Kom Kom’s third gig with us for a reason👌🏽

Originally from Birmingham & now living in Sheffield, is a very talented and experienced selector with a taste for global 🌎 music that is bassy and percussive 🥁 . She is a resident DJ of ‘Rebel Soul’.

She will be playing global house in the bar between 12:30 & 02:00!
